First how sure that your competitor is not building link, second how old his site compare to your site, also how authority his site compare to your site?

These are some questions that you need to consider. You need to check how he build his content, how he make keyword research and how he used them in his site.

Get related content back link from same niche.

You first make sure that your competitor is not building any links. There are tons of tools that can determine the links of a certain website like AHREFS and MOZ. Authority is also a power in SERPs ranking. The better and wider the website's reputation, the more likely would they rank on top. There are more factors actually that can cause a website's SERPs dominance.

He has links, you just don't know about them.

Assumes the other guy is actually ranking & the keyword is competitive.

BTW, links include strong internal pages that might include external links that your overlooking on ahrefs, or wherever.

There are over 200 ranking factors so I'm sure he must fit more factors than just link building. Ask yourself....

How long has he been around?
Relevant Content to keyword?
Authority backlinks?

Hi Mate,

As other warrior said , how sure you can say that he dont have any type of back links.

He might having the website from years and might be getting more and more referral traffic from social media by sharing them there.
Now a days , without building back links from other sites Google is giving to other things like Social signals. So try to investigate in that way.

Since you don't understand comment links are almost always nofollow links I doubt you know how to find a competitors valuable backlinks.

Your comment spammed links are passing no SEO value to your site, you are wasting your time adding comments for links. Same goes for forum sig links here, no direct SEO value, they are nofollow: Google ignores them.

In this case, it could that the site that ranks on #1 is older than your website.

Your confusing established links with domain age (two different things).

You could have an old weak domain with no links, it wouldn't rank for any decent keywords that have traffic.

This clearly indicates that your competitor knows his onion or have the strong backing of an SEO veteran.

Just because you don't see links doesn't mean they don't exist.

There are a lot more factors that can bring a website to the top of the SERPs. Authoritativeness is one. Brands that have been really popular, even if they don;t do link building that much tends to rank better. This is why SEO people should really invest in creating relationships and gaining trusts for their products online.

Well, I think this is the good time to have a look over you competitor way of working. Anyway is it possible for you to let me know about your competitor site and the keyword they are ranking for, I would like to have a look over them to see what they are doing !

He's probably running Spider Spanker. It's a plugin that blocks bots from backlink checkers from seeing the backlinks you have on your site.

think that you should keep monitor their keyword and backlinks. Try to write random keyword and link to target page which you want to rank higher. make more backlink and vote your article. You may get better soon..
