hi if i have done a 301 redirect from a bad old domain to a new good domain apparently it can and will pass on good and bad link juice and any google penalties.

My question is if this happens and I then cancel the 301 redirect so it no longer exists will the penalty no longer apply to the good new destination domain?

    301 Moved Permanently

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status code for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.

You are telling the search engines that the page no longer exists and that the indexed link should be updated to the new location.

So over time, the indexed pages from the old site will be replaced with the pages from the new site.

A 301 from Site A to Site B is a way of telling Google that Site A and Site B are now one and the same site. Therefore, any penalty on A will pass through the redirect to B and will remain there even after the 301 is removed.
