What to do if a site gets penalized?

First of all, we need to find out why a site gets penalized. For doing this, we have to run a SEO Audit through the back links we have for the site. Then we need to find out the Low Quality/Spam Links and disavow them through Web Master Disavow Tool.

Then we have to wait till the links get disavowed. After that we need to create several web 2.0 pages that will contain a link of the penalized site. Then we need to start optimizing those web 2.0 pages. Optimizing web 2.0 pages will increase the ranking for both the page & the penalized site. Thus traffic will increase for the penalized site.

What we should do so that a site doesn't get penalized?

1. We need to create Quality Back links.
2. Creating Bookmarks from PR 2 or higher sites.
3. Directory Submission from PR 2 or higher sites.
4. Need to Publish Press Release At least once a Month
5. Need to Publish At least two Articles in a month
6. Need to publish at least two Web 2.0/ Blog post in a month.
7. If you are targeting to getting links from Forum, then you need to invest some time regularly on that forum. So that it seems you are really giving a value to the forum. (Otherwise don't post links to forum).
8. Never comment on any relevant blog that has already published 50 comments on its page.
9. Try to focus on developing Good Content so that both Reader & Search Engine Likes the content.

Note: PR 2 is for domain, not for the pages you are linking to.

Is there a reason for penalization? What were you doing?

Also, what you say above is good to do, but is not guaranteed to work and will take ages. I would suggest 301 redirect to a new domain and kill of the pages with the bad links ;-)

I never said, I got penalized. But when Google roles any update, we face a huge traffic loss or increase.

I got a client who contacted me after getting such penalization. And applied the strategy here I shared.

No, won't lift a penalty. Yes build quality backlinks.

No, won't lift a penalty, this is the same as number 1 with the addition of PR2 which since Google hasn't updated the public PR for a year, it's not good advice to limit to PR2+ only.

No, total BS. Why would publishing dynamic content lift a penalty. Go read what Web 2.0 means. It's not what you think it means.

No, total BS. Forum links tend to be have nofollow links which will be ignored by Google unless you go REALLLY SPAMMY and a manual reviewer sees them and gives your site a penalty.

Finally some good advice, though this alone won't lift a penalty.

Find the cause for the penalty and fix it. That's the only sure fire way to remove a penalty.

Thanks for the effort kurbanbd but those you've mentioned are not new at all.

I believe the first thing to do after being penalized is to analyze your site.
And IMO, I don't think directory submission is still a relevant technique. If I am not mistaken, link building techniques such as blog commenting, directory submission, social bookmarking etc. are already considered as link scheme. I hope you were able to elaborate how those techniques would still be helpful for our link building strategies.

Well this is officially what you DON'T WANT TO DO TO FIX A PENALTY.

I would love to know where these unfounded theories come from? Quite creative of you to say the least.
