Hello guys,

I am running a new sports news website and post articles daily. But, not getting enough traffic.

My website is on Barclays Premier League but have good backlinks. I create it in different ways.

Currently, I am using dropmylink.com website to create backlinks via comment. Can this helpful for my site?

Another issue is, should I create backlink per news or random pages of my website?

Thanks

Use all off page techniques like forum posting, article submission, blog comment. It will surly increase the traffic to your website.

Honestly, you should just stop worrying about SEO for the site. Unless you have a big budget, you are never going to compete with the big sites that dominate a market like that.

Social media would be a much better way to bring in traffic.

Dropmylink will not rank your site for anything decent. It's a useless tool.

Build links to the root domain. The news pages should garner links on their own if your site gets a bit popular.

I have no idea what that is (dropmylink) but it screams 2007 spamfest.

I can't stop laughing here because of yukon's comment.. I intend nothing mean or harsh for the thread-starter..

      Please accept my apologies..

Yes, I agree with yukon because I have been trying to find everything about SEO since before 2007, but I cannot recall encountering that site, before this..

Social Media is the ONLY way to get traffic in such a niche! Yes, there are some good keywords in your situation, but...if I were you, I would start using Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Same niche forums are a more dedicated user base than social accounts. Social doesn't require any effort to Like/Tweet anything. The money is in die hard fans, people that consistently live & breathe a niche (dedicated traffic).

Social sites like Facebook or Twitter are more likely to build temporary nofollow links that will never help with SEO. Dedicated same niche forum traffic is more likely to spread permanent links that draw in long term direct traffic & have a better chance of landing a followed link. Most people that are interested in a niche forum belong to multiple forums, they'll spread permanent organic links, even outside of forums.

I'm not saying the big social sites are all bad but they are temporary post that will soon be forgotten unlike a forum thread that can continuously be bumped.

I'm talking about legit same niche forum post/profiles, not 2004 sig spam link dropping.

I 100% agree with all of that... normally. In this case though, he wants to rank a website that covers news from the most popular sport in the world.

I would be buying Facebook ads like crazy (targeting soccer fans) and trying to build up a following there instead. Then you can put your posts from the website on the Facebook page. Get a good, interactive following, and you'll constantly show up in their news feed.

EDIT: Nevermind. I read some of his content. He shouldn't drop another dime into this project.

I didn't look but I'll take your word for it. I figured by using something named dropmylink a spamfest was happening.

I don't know what it is but the soccer niche always reminds me of the same guys building forex sites.

Actually you have choose very high competition niche. SO instead of focusing on SEO you should focus on social media like fb,com,vk.com,skyroacks.com. Make fan pages, promote them. These pages will help you for not only traffic but to get social signal for you websites.

Note: Also run campaign to get Email address of your niche fans by giving them a freebie. In this way you will less depend on SE and you can sell anything related to your niche.

I think both SEO activities and social media marketing can help you in driving traffic. So, I would recommend you to do both the activities side by side.

It would be best for you to get backlinks from high page rank site like apple, amazon, microsoft etc site. Remember that few quality backlinks are better than lot of low site backlinks.

Hey @Mike did you use tools to build backlinks ?? I have been checking your site and over ahrefs it shows an abrupt increase over the pages pointing towards your site ! I mean it raised from 208 to more than >10K in just a month ?? I don't think that's possible without using tools or you must be spamming others inorder to get links ! Maybe what better for you would be start having more closer look over your linking as you link gives me a feel that they may be haunting you in terms of ....

You can't do SEO for each of your post by yourself. You should be focussing on writing great stuff so that users can link you post or share it.

You should focus more on social media promotions and engagement.

This is likely a highly competitive niche, so you should rely on direct traffic generation methods and social networking rather than SEO alone. SEO can help a website, however in a crowded market, its just one of the tools you should be using.
