I have a client that I have done nothing but PPC for, with great success. He wants me to take over his entire website and online marketing efforts now, including social.

He is a local service business only.

Organically, he doesn't really rank well. I just have had success with PPC and specific landing pages created around those PPC ads.

Typically what local SEO services do you provide your clients and how much do you charge?

I have never really worked local only business. Are there any good guides you recommend specific around local SEO and local SEM?

I would take the time to google and search the forums for these answers, but unfortunately this is a busy time for me right now so I figured I'd go straight to the source and get the answers from you guys who have already done the hard work .

I appreciate any feedback!

I recommend you taking a look and posting this in the offline marketing part of the forum since many people that regularly post there deal solely with local SEO.

If you're really doing PPC and optimizing pages for PPC then you have already won half the battle. On page optimization is the most important part of local SEO... the rest is mostly citation building and local branding.

It's not about backlinks anymore... it's about relevance... relevance locally, and relevance to the keyword/service.

It really depends on how much work you are doing, Local can consist of many different areas such as local organic, maps aka Google My Business and social if you were to bundle all of those together most companies would charge around $500-900+ per month. It really just comes down to exactly what areas you were marketing and how much work involved. I charge my regular clients $200+ depending on city and industry for Maps listings and usually $400+ for organic and maps to give you an idea, but it all is based off industry and area or how much work it's going to take, Hope this helps!

If you're saying that he is doing well with PPC. Then why not start there?

Often times, business owners don't optimize/test their PPC campaigns. You can make small changes that would result in a drastic improvement in terms in conversion rate. In addition to that, you can expand the traffic by adding more keywords, and removing under performing keywords.

You can test elements on the landing page to bump up the response.

You can charge the client by calculating, the number of hours you would need to put in to this project to make it successful. Multiply the number of hours, by your hourly rate. You will get an idea how much you can charge your client.

if you are already doing PPC than Local SEO will not be problem for you.... you can also get clients by doing some Citations on Major Directories like Yelp, YP etc and running a Youtube Channel... ask Real Clients for some GP listing reviews...

Best resource for learning about Local SEO is Local Search Ranking Factors 2014 - Local SEO and How to Rank in Google - Moz.

Local SEO is really different than traditional SEO so if it's not something you have much experience with you could always outsource the actual work to companies that are familiar with Local SEO and have done a lot of it (that way you can still keep your client paying you for it). Just look for Local SEO companies that offer whitelabeling or reseller agreements.
