Temporarily no-indexing a bunch of pages. Good idea?

I've been thinking of ways to add amazon products to my site, but have not figured it out yet. I've been pondering about the following strategy, please let me know what you think.
- we import about 1,000 products using a plugin (prosociate).
- this plugin will use the same title, image and product description as on the amazon page, resulting in low quality, duplicate content.

Would it be a good idea to no-index these product pages until we have added unique descriptions to all our products. Once we have done so, we would let google index these pages.

Do you think this is a good strategy?

(We have been thinking about adding products one by one and immediately adding a unique description, but our niche is not really suited for that. eg a clothing store can't offer 3 jackets and 2 pants. So, we prefer to add all the products simultaneously)

Have the pages been created and indexed? If it hasn't been indexed yet that's totally fine. Just no-index the pages until you're ready to publish.

Sounds risky, if an important site I wouldn't do that.

Just had a quick look at the Amazon plugin main video, looks interesting.

Use the post as draft option and they won't be posted until you manually edit them and add your own text etc... and click publish.

Basically a quick way to add affiliate reviews, post the automated stuff to draft, edit the posts one by one to make unique and publish.

Yes. Absolutely agree with you! If the website is already ranking good, it's not a good idea trying this!

Yes you can do it so at least you can avoid duplicate content and get benefits for long term future if you use unique content for your product.
