Howdy Folks!

When you build a webpage and intend to promote it, what steps do you take such as where do you go and what do you do ? Where do you post your new page's links ?

* link submission sites ?
* classifieds ?
* blog pinging sites ? (if it's a blog post)
* your forum profile signature ?
* you tweet ?
* you post a youtube video and include your link ?
* you create a facebook fanpage ?
* you write an article and submit it to the article directories including your link in the resource box ?
* you guess blog and include your link ?
* you leave comments on blogs and leave your link ?
* you join mlm programs and find an excuse somewhere to leave your link ?
* you use a link building tool ?
* you use a link building service ?
* you use a reciprocal linking service ?
* anything else ?

As for me, I use none of these. Thinking of building a proper website and so ask. I know Word Press is good and it has pinging plugins and Google spider finds you easily but that's Word Press blogs geting ranked easily. Non-blogging sites aren't that lucky and so apart from Word Press and blogging how else do you advertise your links such as your ....

* web store
* site catalogue
* one page site

Anyone has a list of things they go through to make it easier to promote their links ? Like a 43things.com list.

    All of that is hard work. There is an easy way to promote your site without manually dropping links in places where most of the links are likely to be no-follow. Just buy some high authority links and buy some manual link building packages.

    This month I am planning to use Reddit to advertise. Ads go for as low as $5. You do have to know how Reddit works.

    I mostly use these things to promote:
    1. Complete social promotion
    2. Few relevant blog comments
    3. Few forums .

    That's it.

    I've learned that if you're serious about your website you best avoid any SEO service that promises x number of links for a low price... it might sound great but you'll get links on websites that are set up for the sole purpose of selling links... you don't want to get linked on any of these. In fact most seo services will provide you with low quality links that might give you an initial boost but will hurt you're website in the long run.

    Link building is a manual process that takes time. First you need to make sure that your website contains a decent amount of useful information (otherwise nobody wants to link to it) and I'd also set up social pages like Facebook, Google Plus and Pinterest for example to connect with your followers/readers. Then when you're proud of the work that you've done, there's quite a big chance that people with sites on the same interest will want to link to you. And these are exactly the links that you're looking for. For example if you have a travelsite about London and you offer a great city guide and even a free printable pdf map of the city that's really awesome and contains a great layout there's a big chance that travel bloggers with articles on London are willing to put up a link in their story to your guide! And all you have to do is ask... this won't cost you anything (although some bloggers might ask for a small fee)... Of course you can hire someone to do this reaching out for you... which can be considered a seo service. Just make sure he only reaches out to quality websites. I always look at the website first, and if I like it and am impressed with the content I reach out to them.

    All in all it's very time consuming to promote your website, but it does pay off in the end! There's even a 20% / 80% rule that many bloggers follow, just to show you how much time it takes... 20% of their time is invested in creating awesome content and 80% of the time is invested in promoting this content!
