Say you are in the #8 spot for a keyphrase, and the user clicks on the #1 spot. Does GWT call that an impression because you are on the first page?

If the #8 spot is below the fold, and the user doesn't scroll down to your listing, then it won't count as an impression. Impression only counts when your listing is viewed.

      That makes no sense.

Logically and factually, it makes no sense.

It's the page, not where it's at. People search on any number of devices, and
      could generate varied impressions.

Besides, one could appear multiple times at once. But why should I do
anymore expanding on that? You people need to start learning.

Well, what impression is "The number of times pages from your site appeared in search results. With change also shows the increase/decrease in the daily average compared to the previous period." So, I think yes it do counts it as impression !

Even if the user doesn't click on the #1 result, or any result for that matter, it's still registered as an impression. In other words, if I search for "green dolls" and view the first page of results, all the ten results on the first page would have '1' impression.

Lol. Impressions = number of times a page of your site appeared in the results.
