Hello,

I am new to SEO and I am trying to make my company website rank better. I have read everything I can about search engine optimization but I am a little confused. I am a little perplexed about two things :

My website has only 7 pages (the biggest one has 600 words), should I create additional pages just to have more url optimized with keywords ?

Does keywords research even matters in 2014 ? Should I focus on link building and creating original content ? From what I have read, keyword density isn't that much of a factor in 2014 but I could be wrong.

thank you !

    Does keyword density matter anymore?
If by anymore you mean ever, no, it doesn't matter.

Having more pages will allow you to optimize internal links. With 7 pages your pretty much depending on external webpages to do all the work.

    Yes, it isn't.
IMO, natural flow of content is much better because the content is written for your audience purpose and just for search engines mainly. If you want to increase your online presence and organic search then do social networking and content marketing.

Keywords density may be penalized by google. Standard keywords are 3 to 5% on paragraph. Create high page backlinks to develop your site ranking in apple, microsoft, amazon etc

    Hi,
I think keyword density is very important in Google point of view it should be any where 2 - 4 %.If you exceeds this limit it is going to arm your search engine rankings.

Many of the SEO gurus say that keyword density is dead. But they are not completely true. Keyword density still exists today to some extent. However, maintaining high keyword density may lead you to be penalized by Google for keyword stuffing.
There is no optimal keyword density for a piece of article. It all depends upon the type of article. If you are targeting you long tail keywords, you may need less keyword density than, when you are targeting short tail keywords.

Keyword density all depends upon the nature of the content that you are writing.

As an alternative to keyword stuffing, you can use and include semantic or LSI keywords along with your main keywords. LSI keywords are nothing but related keywords to your main keyword. Google sees both LSI and main keywords as one. These keywords help Google in determining the context or meaning of the content. Including LSI keywords, helps boost SEO. It is also a perfect alternative for keyword stuffing.

    Hope this helps.

You should completely forget keyword density and focus on writing a nice article, easy to read. The articles should semantically be about your keywords (include different topics that are in some way connected to your keywords).

Yes, keyword density is really matter at the Google point of view, if your content find a keyword density error then your article should get rejected by Google.

Writing themed content is much better then shooting for a specific keyword density. When you do this you are creating a better quality article by using related keywords and phrases. Search engines know how to figure out if your content is themed and will rank you accordingly.

Keyword density is not important anymore. You obviously need to use your keywords still, but Latent Semantic Indexing is important these days.

There's not much you can do in six hundred words and anything you try with keyword density is likely to come across as spammy. After all, thats only a few paragraphs of content. Most sites that rank well have well over a thousand words per page. Rather than creating more thin content pages, take your time to flesh out the content on each page.

Don't go out of your way to cram your keyword(s) into the page in an unnatural way.

    Google doesn't really like that.

Keyword stuffing is just as wrong to do now as it as years ago.
Just use your keyword on the page as it makes sense to do so.

yes keyword density dose matter. Keyword stuffing is not allowed at all. Just concentrate on website structure. Google is giving a lot of importance to website structure.

Thank you all for your advice, it is apparently better to think in terms of themes rather than keywords.

If your site is new then updating of websites such as adding of pages and navigation will surely come along your way. As per keyword density, I suggest that you focus on writing your article on a natural flow, of course with keywords on it but specifically for your readers purpose and not for search engine only.
