Hi!
Should i include the cityname in the url for local seo?
My keywords are massage and the city.
Is this structure good for the different massage treatments?
lymphmassage-massage-city
rosenmethod-massage-city
#cityname #service #url

If you're targeting a specific locality yes that will be an advantage.

Opps sorry I miss the title and question. I thought you're asking for the title.

EMD is not as important as they were before, but I believe they still have at least little value when it comes to SEO.

But I do not want the idea of using (-) between words, they are not user friendly.

  • You're better off reading Moz's 2014 Local Search Ranking Factors than getting any advice from this forum.

All your questions would be answered in the result of that survey. Anything not mentioned there is definitely not relevant to Local Rankings.

    Hope it helps.

That's a bold claim, so the moz people really knows what's google's doing behind the scene?

    ok, thanks guys!
But im still a bit confused. What should i use in the url?

should i include my first and second keywords:
    massage city
    massagetherapy city

Lets say we are on lymphmassage. How should the proper url look like?
And how about the other pages, book time, price, contact etc. Should they also include the keywords in the url?

When you say url do you mean the domain name (mysite.com) or a subpage url (mysite.com/massage-therapy-phoenix)?

How many cities do you plan to target? That will influence your url strategy.

    The url for the subpages
    Booking
    Price
    Treatments (lumphmassage, rosen method etc)

And its only for one city.

Only include they city name in pages that you expect to rank for keywords that include the city name. So, for the treatment types, a url like /lumph-massage-phoenix is ok. But don't include it in the urls of pages like the contact us page since that is not a page you will target for rankings.

If your keyword research shows that "book massage phoenix" (or whatever your city is) and "massage price phoenix" are keywords that people are searching then include the city name in those urls is okay.

Overall limit the number of urls that have the city name because it will appear spammy to have too many urls with the same city name.

The safest longterm approach would be not to include the city name at all in the urls since your whole site is focused on one city.

No matter which approach you take, make sure you have your street address in the sitewide footer so Google can figure out what area you serve. Also include the city name in the title tag of the target pages (and the homepage).
