Is this tough competition on #1 page of google?

Hi there guys, I have question about #1 page on google?

There are just old domains with high pr on first page (2-4, i guess I would call them authority websites), but none of them are optimised for the keyword in url, title, heading and description. They also have very little or none backlinks to page.

Intitle competition is very low, somewhere between 300-3000 sites...

Would I stand the chance of cracking the top 10?

What factors play bigger role?

Thanks guys

Some situations like that I have outranked PR4-6 websites with JUST on page optimization. Do your on page optimization, see where you land and reevaluate.

Thanks for the tip. I had an old website that had decent content and was ranking well. I had to rebuild the site and somehow I lost all my rankings and I am just now in the process of getting them back.

It's hard to say without seeing the SERP, but it sounds pretty doable. A trick I use to quickly tell if the keyword will be easy to rank for is to check for any forum or archive page results.

If I see results like that, I know I can get onto page 1.

This is always a good indication that you can probably outrank them.
