Check Your Visitors Time On Site

I just started to check some time on site stats for a bunch of my review site.

Surprisingly or perhaps not so due to the poor content and quick setup the majority of my visitors stayed less than 5 seconds on my site.

Site 1: 65% less then 5 seconds
Site 2: 70% less then 5 seconds
Site 3: 80% less then 5 seconds
Site 4: 85% less then 5 seconds

I was a bit dissappointed by site 3 as it has a great theme and looks awesome (imo) but well.

The site with 85% of visitors less then 5 seconds on my site uses a very popular Amazon theme, which converts real well, but if 85% of visitors leaves within 5 seconds there's obvious not much to convert is there?

The poor results of site 1 and 2 likely have to do with a slow loading graphical header and the loading time varies between 1 and 5 seconds, very unstable host so I wll move those to a faster host.

When I start reading the content it was also real poor in the very first sentence of the homepage already, obvious that doesn't help either.

Right now I'm adjusting the content, at least at the start, and testing several themes, as the theme has a lot to do with it as well so I advise you to do the same.

Your site could make 2-3 times more money when you put a little work into analyzing your time on site and adjusting it to acceptable levels.

I compared the time on site of my sites to the sites of a friend and customer of mine, he varies between 30-45% less then 5 seconds on his site, which looks acceptable to me as you can't please everyone and everyone has different expectations when ending up on a site, no matter how well the page answers their query.

Have you tried to figure out where they go to after leaving your site? Do they leave your site through a link or click on the back button? That's what I'd be more concerned about.

I counted the number of links vs amount of total visitors and seems about 20-30% leaves through an affiliate link so I suppose the rest clicks the back button or closes their browser.
