Is it necessary to spend to achieve a good site ranking? n

Hi

I was wondering if you guys felt it necessary to spend money in order to improve search rankings? There is no doubt that those who do spend will get traffic but for those with very little budgets is it still possible to rank well on Google using established seo techniques, links etc without spending or is it very difficult to grow a site into a heavily visited one if one does not spend hundreds of dollars a month on paid traffic?

    At this stage in your IM career, I would concentrate less on SEO, and more on social marketing. As a byproduct, this will also help you to rank. You need to get your site earning money sooner than later. SEO is a slow game; social is fast. It's also free, of course; there's that, too.

      That's up to you.

      You can spend money on SEO that ranks pages (good on-page SEO & decent links) or spend money on things that don't rank pages (ex: social, likes, views, fiverr, .gov/.edu hype, etc...).

      ...or, If you know SEO you can rank your own pages.

    It largely depends on the niche. You are not going to rank for 'car insurance' without spending some money.

    On the other hand, you could probably rank for something like 'setting up a vpn on xbox' using free methods.
