Facebook Ranked over my website !

Hello Warriors,

I want to talk about something that I never found any solution online for it.

My client asked me to work on SEO for his website, everything was going well except for some important keywords he asked for to rank #1 with it (The website already rank #2 or #3)

The thing is, a competitor just created a page and used the keywords that
I'm competing with and ranked #1 with it.

This page has 46K fans and only 85 ppl talking about this. Their FB strategy is to post 5 posts in one day every three months, which is cr@p.

I don't know how to over come and take #1 rank from this competitor, is there a specific technique to use get around this issue? even if its a dirty work like reporting this page or something because I'm trying the past 6 months everything on-Page optimization (but not backlinks) and nothing worked.

Another thing off topic I just wanted to get it off my chest, I don't know why Google would give credit for some guy who just created a page and leave it abandoned, while me the one who worked very hard each day and spent a lot of money to make my website more efficient and optimized.

Sorry for making my first post a long question

I have also noticed sometimes that Facebook pages are ranking higher on few search terms. As you mentioned you tried everything in on-page optimization but not tried off-page optimization right?

SEO is the combination of on-page and off-page optimization, I would suggest you to build some high quality links for your website though PPT and PDF submission, blog posting, guest posting, video sharing etc.

I'm sure you would be able to outrank your competitor (the facebook page).

Thank buddy for replying, the thing is, my website has a nice authority and the ranks haven't decreased for almost a year now.

I know off-page is a major ranking factor, but are you sure it would make a difference?

The first thing you need to realize is that you, your client, or anyone else, are not entitled to a position in Google SERPs.

Apparently there is a mindset (see this thread) where people think that the alleged quality of their content is, or ought to be, a ranking factor. It is not!

Trying to get Facebook to delete the competitor's page is a dirty move. Just because you don't care for the content of the page doesn't mean it should be removed.

You said you tried everything for your client BUT BACKLINKS? Umm... hello! How do you think the competitor got to #1 in the first place.

Google does not care how hard you or someone works on a site. No offense, but as an SEO, you should have known this.

The first thing people who are going to pay someone for seo services, is to do a tad
bit of research themselves before hiring anyone.
