I agree, you should read a lot about SEO, but meanwhile, work on adding quality content to your site. That is most important.
Second of all,do some intensive link building, use social media to promote your site, comment on other sites in your nice, do some forum promotion... ecc. There are lots of things you can do in the meantime to work on your rankings.

Only collection of strategies and experts views can't support you in search engine optimization. You need to learn SEO in proper way by which you would be able to analyze strategies.
On-page and off-Page work for your site-
Add Meta tags, Alt Tags, H-tags, Robot.txt and sitemap for your site
start linkbuilding with theme based site and submit content.

You don't understand SEO but your targeting the most competitive keywords in an already tough niche.

Start over with keyword research & learn how to evaluate competition strength. Still target your current keyword list but be realistic about competition, target longtail keywords & work towards root keywords (long term).

The domain name is really far away from those keywords. Why don't you go with some Long Tail keywords first as according to me, it would be difficult to rank for them on 1st page!

Here is the super tip that works like charm for me:

Start with very low search and low competitive keywords. Optimize the site for them and as you will move on, the site will start getting authority after which you can move towards much higher competitive end.

Sorry to be so blunt, but a lot of the advice in this thread is awful!

Submit to article directories, do press releases, do your meta tags... Really?? That was all really good advice 10 years ago, but not so much today!

As a couple people have said, you need to read & learn. This forum has tons of good info, but it's mixed in with lots of garbage, so as a newbie it's probably very confusing. As someone else said, Moz.com is one of the best sites to follow if you want to learn about SEO (or more accurately Marketing).

As far as actually optimizing your site I would follow these basic on-page optimization steps:

    1) Do keyword research and find several dozen phrases that apply to you
    2) Choose several long-tail (i.e. 3+ word phrases) that are HIGHLY targeted
    3) Optimize (but don't over-optimize) each of your top level pages for a phrase
    4) Use the chosen phrase for your internal navigational links to that page

It's also very important that all of your pages have a lot of rich content. Not just text, but embedded images and such as well. This helps your site's overall quality score and allows you to hang onto the authority that comes to your website through incoming links.

As far as off-site optimization you basically just need to get links pointing to you. However, it's not the year 2005, so you can't just get any & all links and expect good results (FYI, links from website directories, article directories and press releases are basically worthless now & can even make it harder to rank if you get too many of them). Your only viable options are link building outreach (aka asking people within your topic to link to you) and content marketing (creating good content and telling people about it in hopes of them linking to you).

There are hundreds of full blown books and courses on each of these two techniques (link outreach and content marketing) and it's not something I can cover in a forum reply, but learning about these from trusted authorities on the subjects would be your best approach.

    Best of luck!

I would advise you to read about it (on moz, as already mentioned, it's an awesome source to learn stuff), understand what you read and then apply what you learned!

Better have quality content written on your site about your niche. There are actually many ways to promote your website for ranking but I suggest start there first. Read information about on-page and off-page SEO. And just what Slade556 said, apply what you learn. It takes time to learn and takes time to get your page to rank but if you do it the right way you'll be rewarded in the end for your efforts.

Check for the on-page issues, if any then remove them.
For the off-page task I would recommend you to start doing video submission and podcast for your site. You would be seeing positive results hopefully soon.
