I have read Bruce Clay's article among many others, and I understand the how and why, but is my site siloed? I think it is, but I'm not confident in my assessment.

The theme of the site is dirt bikes, the categories are broken down into dirt bike related topics (nutrition, fitness, product reviews), and relevant posts under the sub categories.

Is this it? Do I need to interlink the posts inside the category?

Is there a plugin or program out there that can tell me so I can keep an eye on it?

Thanks

Sign up for Google Webmaster tools and after you verify your site, it will show you a message to let you know if you've been penalized. Also search Google for 'info:domain.com' and if it doesn't show up, you've been de-indexed.

It's siloed, but there are different kinds of silos. No one does a better job of explaining silos than Alex Becker of source-wave.com, so you may get your questions answered by watching some of his videos on siloing. In a typical silo, the homepage links to all the categories, the categories link to all the posts under them, and the posts under them all lik back to the homepage.

      That's not a silo, it's a typical blog that's not optimized.

The whole point of a silo is to pump up a landing page that's focused on a single subject.

Do you by chance have a direct link? There is no search function on his site.

If by "no one" you mean everyone, then you are absolutely correct.

If you want to learn how to market yourself online and build a big following, Alex is a great example. If you want to learn how to build silos, there are tons of better resources out there.

The quick question to ask is "Is it a wordpress site?"
More often than not.. as in you would KNOW if you silo'd a worpress site wordpress sites ARE NOT silo structure.

The next question is "Are you the one that built the page?"
Again. you have to know what you are doing to actually develop Silo Structure. there is a bit more to it than the navigation structure at the top of the page. For the most part on the "home" page a silo site and a non silo site will look the same. its when you get deeper into it, you will see some differences.

My thinking is if you have been adding content, and you are questioning it at this point... the answer is if it was, it isn't now, but more than likely wasn't to begin with.
