Can anyone explain me the difference between 'Fetch as Google' and 'Fetch and render as Google' in webmaster tools?

I tried using this feature. I am getting the status as 'Redirected' 'URL and linked pages submitted to index' Can anyone explain what it means please?

Generally how many days it take for the status as indexed with Google on this page of the webmaster tools?

Regards,

Vikram Anand

The former will just fetch the page and the latter will fetch the page along with a screenshot of how it looks.

The page you are trying to fetch has been redirected.

The page you are trying to fetch has been redirected.
      Thanks for the information.

Can you please explain what exactly is meant by "The page you are trying to fetch has been redirected"??
What happens when a page is redirected?? Does it lead to better indexing??

Redirection means the url you are checking actually goes to a different url. To verify just copy the url in web browser and after page load compare that url (by copying from the browser's address bar) with the original and it will let you know what was the difference.
To make the task easier try a redirection checker tool instead.

I tried using redirection checker tool. It shows few of 301 and 404 errors, by adding several variants of /index and /default in front of the main url.

Can you suggest how I can resolve this problem please?

When a page is redirected, it loads the page it redirects to when you enter the url. To find out more about redirects and how they work, use Google.
