Hundreds of location based landing pages

Hi,

I am thinking about creating hundreds of landing pages, optimised for each town near my area. Although I will be duplicating my pages, and just changing the town names.

I see a lot of sites doing this, they have hundreds of pages in their sitemap.

Would this work? Would this increase clicks?

    If your site is new then probably this is not going to help anyways but for high traffic sites this can be a good idea. I could be wrong and this is common in auto related websites but only high traffic sites can have benefit from these.

    Yes, it would work..and Yes, it would increase local traffic. You are probably better making it a little bit more unique than just replacing to the city names though.. To go along with that, if the city/suburb is big and there is some competition for it, then be prepared to build backlinks into that specific page URL just as you should be doing to your homepage already.

      Just wondering where you live. Hundreds would mean 200+ at
      least. What place has that in its area?

      Los Angeles county, for example, has but 88 total.

      Take in Orange county with only 34, you are up to
      only 122 total.

      No reason for what you are doing in that respect.

      Now if you are talking doing something gasbuddy does, and
      make a landing page/website or virtually all areas of the
      country, then you would be talking hundreds. And they
      do.

      Nothing wrong with it. It's how the big boys run IF there
      is a reason.
