Migrating Site & 301 Redirect

After several months of developing a new site (carrollleather.com) I've decided to migrate it to my old domain (theleathercollection.us). One of the main reasons I decided to move it is for SEO purposes. I've had several users on WF review my site and most suggested that I had too many backlinks pointing to the carrollleather.com domain and could be penalized by Google.

I still want to utilize the carrollleather.com domain and want to 301 redirect it to theleathercollection.us. Would this negatively impact my search rankings and are their any other things I need to be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to change url of a page, we recommend you to use server-side 301 redirect. For example, if your previous website was www.xyz.com and you wanted to change it to www.abcxyz.com , you'd implement a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one.

if you have same content for 2 website, you may prefer 301 else just add the website url on your menu like sister websites.

There should be no issue with changing your website address as long as you follow the steps outlined by Google at https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/83106?hl=en

Keep the old domain operational (301 redirected to new domain), so that you continue to get the benefit of the back links.

301 redirect is not the right answer to your "TOO MANY BACKLINKS". I mean same issue will occur with your old domain as well, as same backlinks would be pointed to your old domain after 301 redirection. My suggestion would be to clean up your bad backlinks and then you can redirect your domain.

No 301 redirection does give any negative effect. Your all credentials will remain same.

You can try the Google disavow tool.
