How many is too many backlinks?

I'm essentially building a link pyramid. I have a number of domains that all point to my money domain. Each one also works a certain niche topic and refers to the main domain as the authority in a larger niche.

Realistically, how many links becomes to many links? For instance, Site B currently refers to Site A (Money site,) about 30 times on just one page. That same page on Site B also refers to another dozen sites not owned by me with another 30 links or so.

The content of Site B justifies the number of links in this specific case, but I am cautiously planning on splitting that particular page up into a number of sub pages and increasing the total number of links exponentially.

I'm interested in views from both an SEO standpoint and a usability standpoint, with the understanding that those are not mutually exclusive these days.

    Build less than 10 links in one day and you're on the right path. After 10 links, build as much as you can per day. Depend on the keywords you want to rank.

    Why would you link to one site 30 times on one page? Doesn't make any sense. Besides, only one out of those 30 links will be counted by Google. The rest will be ignored.

      The money site is a travel site. The secondary site lists out an travel itinerary half of which are listed on the money site.

    I believe that it`s quality not quantity of backlinks. There are articles which got backlinks more than 20 within an hour without doing anything. So it`s all natural when you keep it natural.
