Redirect or Multisite?

This is a bit long winded because I'm a newbie and not sure of my terminology...

When I registered domains for my book I went for .co.uk (my home territory), .eu and .com with the intention of having a "global presence". I'm marketing an Amazon kindle eBook so I can genuinely hit countries in Europe and the American continent...

At present the main domain with all the content resides under the .com extension with the others parked and redirected at my ISP.

Is there any advantage in using something like Wordpress Multisite to actually split them into three separate sites? Specifically I'm thinking of operating three Regional AdWords campaigns for UK, Europe and the Americas, targeting the Ad URLs to the three sites.

Do people really care? Does SEO take any account of these geographical concerns?

I have a feeling the geographical targeting is aimed at physical businesses operating within a territory (with no export markets) and this is all a bit of a red herring for my product...
