Question about SEO. Help!

Hi warrior forum,

I am in the process of deciding the keyword and domain name I would like to use for my first ever niche site. My question is, how are the big sites such as Viperchill.com ranking so highly for keywords over other sites that have the actual keyword in their domain name??

Is it strongly recommended to include the keyword in your domain name when creating a niche?? I ask this because the keyword I am looking at is not the most brandable domain name...

It's important in MNS
If you're making an authority site then it's not necessary.. you have to find a good looking short and brandable name.

I agree. While it's nice to have your keywords as your domain name for that initial boost, it is literally a non-factor if you're going to do your homework and build the site correctly. A few well-written pages will trump that generic domain name, so don't feel compelled to go that route.

Type your keyword phrase into google.

If the top 10 or 20 listings are not using the keyword phrase in their url, it maybe a waste of time trying to pick a domain name with the keyword phrase.

There are a number of keyword phrases that you will never be able to rank on the top pages.

The key is to do your homework and pick a low competition keyword phrase.
