I am putting out articles on ezinearticles and on my blogs. Should I keep building backlinks for my articles on ezinearticles or should I build backlinks for the blog posts.

I would say the blog. You still have to spend some time confidence building before you can make a sale. That said if it is a hot product you are promoting a direct link might also work. Only split testing will tell.

Both. Build some backlinks to your article pages but apply the majority of the backlinks to your blog.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

You really do want your property i.e. your site that you host to be on top and have the most power over articles that could be deleted or changed or whatever at any time as you don't own the site and so have no control on that.

However generally your article's will rank higher than your blog to begin with but with a bit of work it will be your blog instead.

I'm a newbie too, but I often am confused when they say we should 'backlink' to our articles in ezinearticles. What's the point of leading readers from your blog to ezinearticle? So that, they will see your resource box and thus lead you back to your blog again?

When we talk about backlinking to our ezine articles we mean building links to those articles from a variety of both dofollow and nofollow sources: bookmark sites (A1Webmarks, Linkagogo, Delicious...), social promotion sites (Digg, Propeller...) blog comments and anywhere else you can get them. We don't mean that you link from your money page to the ezine articles. Just as all roads lead to Rome, all links lead to your money page. So you will have bookmarks and blog comments leading directly to your money page (in this case a blog) and also links to your articles which in turn link to your money page. You are hedging your bets. You don't know which of your properties will rank first. I have had hub pages and squidoo lenses show up on page 1 while my money page was still on page 4 of the serps.

      Hi,

It is good to publish your articles at ezinearticles as well as on your blog to get the best SEO results. But see that you choose different keywords for the title of your article at both the places and change you article body atleast by 30%. Publish the original article on your blog and the changed one at ezinearticles.

In the same way, you can also submit your articles at GoArticles.com, ArticleDashboard and ArticlesBase.com to build backlinks at various places using different keywords and bring constant flow of traffic to your website.
