Ok, so i finally went ahead and got Aref, after checking my backlinks it seems iv got several hundred spammy sites dated back to 2009, i know, im a idiot, it didn't factor to me that sites linking to me can play havoc.

So, iv gone through several thousand backlinks looking at each page, got around several hundred including broken links on some of these people linking to me.

Would i be right in thinking not only do i include the spammy links, but also the broken links?

Has anyone used this disavow, would like to know your experience after blocking these sites, traffic wise, did it increase?

Most of my spam links are 5 years old, just hoping that once i add them to Disavow, Google will block all these sites.

So hoping to get feedback on whether i should block broken back links pointing to site, and also spam links, and curious as to how long before Google actually block them for good.

Would love some info, really gutted that people can use Scrapebox like this, and link me to numerous unrelated sites, some of them contain over 600 outgoing links, found several porno sites using my gaming covers, WTF.

Cheers

Alex

Iv done a bit more reading on this, had an interesting idea, from what i gather the disavow seems to only work once the page is re crawled, iv read about 15 stories on this, and some say it works, some say it doesn't.

My own conclusion is it was built as a way of Google tracking crap sites, but i think the main factor with using this is the links must be re crawled.

So, what about if i create a new site, one page, index it in webmasters, crawl all links on the page, after this delete the domain?

Would this work, seems plausible, surely Google crawls all pages linking to the one page, more so if i listed them on the same page.

Curious to see if this would be a solution to make sure the links are re crawled, anyone done this?.

I have used for some of the low quality links, I hope it works fine. But there is no proof to show it.

Yes, you're pretty much correct in what you said. You will use the disvow tool and add both the broken links and the spammy links. If the backlink looks good/solid, then don't disavow it! Only what you want Google to stop using against you.

Cheers for this, going to block the domains rather than the individual links, think it will crawl it must faster than an old link nobody can see, i think this might explain why some people fail to get it to work, it hasn't in effect crawled the unique url, but from checking all domains with the exception of a few broken links were cached almost daily.

Will let you know once i am done whether an improvement comes from this, so far iv blocked 878 domains.

    Will keep you posted.

P.S, if you get any backlinks ending in .tk or any backlinks which are https, then check it on http, probably find it is a one page spam site, or redirect to crappy site.

Also keep an eye on a few that look like Wiki sites, not wikipedia, thought i had a decent wiki link and found out it was a one page spam sites, I did find a few porno sites which i am keeping for reference (grins), but blocking it from linking back.
