Tech is a little vague.. Can you be more specific? Matt Cutts will discuss search engines, Google, and other SEO type stuff. If you're blog is on the computer side of technology then it should be okay. If it were on the mobile side of technology it might not be so relevant. Still, I think you'll be okay.

well always try to comment or get links from relevant niche, once in a while commenting on non relevant site will not hurt you, but don't repeat it. there are many forums on web development or other areas but related to your niche.

Search and put your effort to reach to them.

I think you haven't done something wrong as it is somehow related but I'd rather be more active on websites that is specific to my niche because it'll help my website eventually.

  • I think that blog commenting can beign seen as spam if your comments are for baclinks only it does not matter if they are in niche-related blogs.

Indeed you have to be a lot more specific and target blogs that have to do with your specific niche. Also make sure to check the popularity of the blog and see if they have frequent visitors as this will help when it comes to actual interaction from the blog comment you posted.

Posting links on a few blog comments is okay. However, if you go to wild with this and start commenting on hundreds of blogs and leaving your link, that will be construed as spam. You can get some benefits on blog commenting when done in moderation.

      No.

It doesn't matter how many comments you make. It matters what the comment quality is.

If you're responding intelligently to thousands of posts, it's not spam. Hell, I invite you all to comment on my posts a thousand times a month, as long as your comment compels me to respond to you and/or to produce another post.

      Leave 1 comment like this:

I travel the web and encounter your post. I must vocalize pleasure at how magnificently well pronounced your analysis. I bookmarked it and will return.

      you have produced spam.

lol .... so true. Have seen and removed thousands of similar comments.

To OP: Yeah. Leaving an intelligent argument or comment about an article will not hurt your site rankings. Only wrong way is to spam the comments section.

Majority of the blogs have gone 'nofollow' when it comes to outbound links. Getting approvals will get you referral traffic but you shouldn't rely on keyword rankings. I'd rather suggest you to spend time on mastering content marketing because that will only get you dofollow links + rankings.

The main objective of doing link building is getting quality traffic on your website so I think getting links from irrelevant sites is not good

This method is as old as internet, and it doesn`t bring anything in term of SEO unless it is used as a diversification link... google likes diversity, but gives 0 benefit to blog comments... that`s why all of them are nofollow.

My advice is stay out of unrelated blog comments - other name for that is spam! Comment at least to related blogs but don`t go out there and comment on 1000s of them... take it slowly and steady.
go social media and web 2.0 properties on all major platforms (google it)
