Keywords, domain titles and Google

Hi Guys,

Can someone help me understand keywords and Google rankings?

If I have a site called warriorforum.com and someone enters into Google search, warrior forum, shouldn't that website address come up as the exact keyword match?

I have a site based on the title and keyword being the same, but Google hardly recognises it at all, whereas other sites that aren't matching my keyword are at top of list, for example, in my warriorforum example, there is a mens health web site at number one that happens to mention the warriorforum but not in that specific term

Hope I am making sense.

Anyway, if someone could point me to how keywords impact on rankings and web site titles I would be grateful

  • How old is your website?
Google looks for relevance/authority and if those websites appearing in first place are older and come from top sites then it is due to your website has not relevance for those terms.

Also it's no the same thing if somebody searches "warrior forum" and "make money online forum".
What I mean is that if your domain name is an EMD then it will be harder to appears on the first page.

Do i understand it right ? It will be harder to for me to get the 1st place in google with EMD than with not relevant domain ? I would like to set up an online shop with EMD with just one type of product. Should i choose tifferent domain without exact match ?

      thanks

EMD is not mandatory and it is proven it brings less and less value, when it comes to search position, with every update...

Concentrate on Title and Meta desc... those are important to you... if you have those done well... google won`t look at your domain name almost at all.

If it's a brandable keyword then you have do a little SEO to boost it up. For example,in the warrior forum example you gave, if someone enters warrior forum into Google, he is expecting to see warrior forum link on the first position.

So for you to get to that postion, you need to some SEO and maybe backlinking campaign. Make sure 25-35% of the anchor text bears your brand name.

If the keyword is competitive, like for example, Weight Loss Fast Tips and maybe you have a domain called "weightlossfasttips.com".

It's an EMD. You have to do lots of SEO, backlinking campaign and also establish yourself as an authority too before you can very well for that search term.

      What's EMD?
      Exact Match Domain maybe?

And let's say your site is weightlosstips as your example
How to you create the keyword weightlosstips into your domain, like others have done with my keyword?

      Very confused

Google uses lots of ranking factors in its algorithms, the best way to think about them is... The guys at Google are trying to create a system that can't be cheated and serves the best possible results to its users. If it were as simple as buying a domain with your keywords and putting some keyword relevant content on it and ranking on the first page, would this not be cheating the algorithm?

Google looks at a whole lot of on-page factors and your offsite link profile to decide where to rank your site. If your looking to build links, check out the Skyscrapper technique, great walkthrough here Link Building Case Study: How I Increased My Search Traffic by 110% in 14 Days

You do understand you are asking someone to explain you briefly huge part of SEO...?

You can have all things optimized well on your website, but if it`s really young, google bots didn`t crawled it yet (option: wait some time... around 8 weeks, sometimes up to 12... in meantime, keep adding the content regularly)

You can have exact matches in URL, title and meta title, but that has no value since it is called keyword stuffing... (option: dedicate time to learn proper SEO or go some other route)

There are still options... but I believe from experience that it`s one of these 2

If you gave more specific info than we could guess more

BTW... if your site is older, and still nothing is going on, than you might been deindexed (option: search the google what to do then... probably the best thing would be to start all over with some other domain)

    Nicole (:

You should use your website name in Meta Title & do SEO Link-building for it.
