What are the best offsite SEO techniques?

Hi guys,

I'm asking this questions because I've read a lot of articles out there that are contradictory in terms of offsite SEO. Some of them says that Social Media sites are the best for getting Google to rank your site better... and others will claim that social media sites don't count as much as inbound links from well established website in the niche.

There are also lots of well established social bookmark sites out there like; reddit, tumblr, pinterest, that let you add links to your website and product pages. Are they as good as some marketers are talking about?

I'll appreciate all honest answers.

Thanks,
Emil

Why is this the new trend this week?

You're not ranking anything with social links.

A link to your site from a real website that doesn't just let any old person walk in and place it there. How you decide to get it is up to you.

The harder it is to get, the better it'll probably be. You might even decide to purchase certain domains outright just to build those backlinks.

Here is the deal. using Social is not SEO.. it is in itself creating the traffic. is it good to post on Social platforms, YES... does it help with SEO, NO.

SEO is methods to getting traffic from SEARCH ENGINES. Posting on Facebook or Reddit, or Twitter, is using that audience to click directly to your site (notice no search engine in this method) Twitter - website... NOT Twitter - search engine - website.

Social media only helps you out with gaining more traffic. And this only happens if you use social media the right way, meaning be active, be engaging, be interesting in order to make people want to like and share your posts, and so on. But social media is no follow, so in terms of SEO it's no help, only for traffic.

People need to stop thinking that off-page SEO has a set formula or magic trick.

Here's some advice. Find your biggest, largest competitors. Stick their URL into MajesticSEO, Ahrefs or OSE. Look at where their backlinks come from. Go to those sites that are linking to them and then figure out why those sites are linking to them. Then, simply copy them. If your competitors can get a link from those sites, so can you.

      Hi,
Submitting in social bookmarking sites, forums, image sharing sites, web 2.0 sites are good offpage techniques. Social media promotion is also fine.

Social media drives traffic to the website and yes social signals are important to rank in Google's SERP. Also, most of the links which you place on social networking site are of no-follow links. But by participating actively on social media sites, you can build good network of your niche and convert an active user into a lead.
