How long for ranking(s) to get more stable?

Anyone here ever have days were you're bouncing between 2-5 spots? One keyword for example seems to be bouncing between position 12-16 over the past 1-2 weeks.

Wondering how you can know what it means.

Thanks

Throw more quality links at it. It simply means google is deciding on which position to use for your site.

    Xelaetaks,
Search engine results are always in a state of flux. Bouncing up and down 3 to 5 or more places is quite common. "Throwing more links at it" just tends to put your site into a state of flux higher in the results.

Same page bounce is a bit odd... cant say I have seen that in a long while.

I consider bounce to be this. you have given enough change in linking onsite stuff whatever that has deemed a better position. Google I believe basically A / B tests your page in its plausible new location, and then pulls it and throws something else in there and pulls that then throws yours back. to see which they deem worthy to hold the spot in terms of end user usability.

Google rankings fluctuate all the time and new sites bounce up and down as well but more than old sites do. Your site is probably new or not so old that's why it doesn't have a stable ranking. With time, it will settle in one position.

People don't know this but there is no fixed position in the search engines...every search computes the rankings independently using an algorithm. So if you're bouncing around then that tells me that your site is just as good as dozens of others and you need to spend more time locking it into the first page.

Mine is always bouncing. For example I have one search term with about 7,000 impressions last month. 3,000 of them I was #2. I was at 6-10 for 1,000 searches and 1,3,4,5 for the rest...

That's how it happens. These days, no one is truly #1 for any search.
