For SERPs, Yelp is stronger than Facebook?

Hi All,

Have heard of Innoculation Services for reputation management.

It seems it requires one to register one's business name on all sorts of entities: Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, etc.
Steve Bennis Reputation Management

I'm not plugging the guy, I just thought what he said applies to my question.

I found a case where it seems as though Yelp is stronger than Facebook with regards to SERPs :
Google

In this case, the business has a FB page but it is at the *bottom* while the complaints in Yelp are up top.

Why would this be the case? I would think that if I registered my business with FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc. then the SERP would be something like:

=> My listing
=> FB Info
=> Twitter
=> Professional Agency Websites
=> Yelp (complaints against business)
=> Yellowpages (complaints against business)

The idea being that what is defined on FB, Twitter, etc. (because it is defined by ME) would show up first before any complaints from Yelp, Yellow pages, etc.

Why is it not the case here?

Regards.

    Because a Yelp and Facebook page are ranked the exact same way any other webpage is ranked. It is based mostly on the content of the page, the links pointing to the page (both internal and external), and how those things relate to the search user's query.

    There is no "Yelp is always lower than Facebook" filter in the algorithm.

    The Yelp page simply has more authority in Google. As MikeFriedman has mentioned, there is no part of the algorithm that favours Yelp results over Facebook results. The same Facebook page can rank higher than the Yelp page if more links are built to it.

      Thanks for the responses.

      The same Facebook page can rank higher than the Yelp page if more links are built to it.
      So when I create a FB, Twitter, Instagram page for myself, I need to make sure that it has a good number of links pointing to it so that it won't be displaced by any "negative" entries from Yelp or Yellowpages.

    They're both extremely powerful domains. If you're going to try and rank one over the other, I'd use Facebook. If you post a series of status updates containing your keywords, it helps to rank.

    Also, in terms of a better UI/UX and conversion rate, Facebook outperforms. I know a lot of SEOs who rank Facebook fanpages for their clients because it's so easy to do.

    The algo is currently structured to heavily favor high DA sites (Facebook, Yelp, Slideshare, etc). If you look at the SERPs a lot of these properties are popping up for certain queries. You can send shitty spam links at these properties and rank within a week, because the page URL is given a ton of grace by the overall DA of the domain.

    This is a personal theory I've had for awhile but I think the other comments are wrong; Google does give preference to Yelp over Facebook, Why? Because Google often imports reviews from Yelp and displays them in their local searches. Since that's Google's #1 push right now, I can easily see them giving more authority to review sites over social media entities.

    Yelp, and many other citation sites (Manta, YellowPages..etc) probably have the same authority as Facebook. A good SEO person would have links coming from both
