I don't make backlink. Will it cost my SEO?

II have a site and I just post articles and on page SEO like meeting the greed button of Yoast. I hate to make backlinks. Will it hurt my ranking or SEO?

Google make positions based on quality and quantity of backlinks! Without backlinks your SEO doesn't exist...

Your website will be fine and, if it is a useful website, it will attract natural links on it's own. However, you will find it difficult to rank for most profitable keywords without building any links.

As others have said, it won't hurt your SEO..but it will hurt your rankings. Backlinks makeup a good 30-40% of your rankings. You NEED backlinks to get solid SE traffic, without them you're just missing out on good organic traffic.

It`s true backlinks are still most important. But if you want target some niche keyphrases try to build a website in SILO structure you will rank them pretty easily without any external backlinks, only good quality unique content is necessary to make it happen. Of course it depends on the competition, but SILO structur will lower your backlinks spending a lot

You must have back links for your website. just make sure that you should not use those old timed poor link building techniques.

Absolutely it will affect your site in the terms of traffic and ranking. Google plays a very important role in traffic gaining and Google ranks your website on several aspects and one of the important aspect is your back-links.
The more quality links you'll have, the more better will be your Ranking for your keywords.
So, i would suggest you to start creating back-links for your site.

Not having backlinks won't hurt your SEO, but you won't gain anything positive from it either. There's a reason why everyone struggles to build as many quality links as possible, it's a sure way to improve your rankings.

I agree with all the above replies. You can post articles until you are blue in the face but they will not rank well. Building quality links is still the best way to make your web site popular and increase your domain authority. The better your domain authority the better you will rank.

Not building back links wont hurt your SEO but it surely will not improve it either.

You will have to have quality backlinks to rank higher. The number doesn't matter much, if you have high quality links from authority sites. Getting links from high authority sites is indeed a tough task.

If your site is interesting + popular enough and can attract natural backlinks sure why not. Many webmasters of popular sites have zero linkbuilding experience.

Otherwise you'd have to build your own links or if you really hate it / you're not good at it you might as well pay someone to do it for you or you won't rank for anything.

It wont hurt SEO but as many of my friends here told you wont be visible on google.

I understand that you hate running for backlink in the treditional sense. But there are several passive way to gain backlinks naturally. like inviting one of industry famous person into one of your interview post. or pinterest image linking if yours use a lot of good images.

backlinks are important buddie, why do you hate it? start doing a little work of dropping backlinks. such as classifieds, high domain authority directories such as Dmoz, guest post. find domains of yur niche. post content there, do article marketing, blog marketing.

Not only SEO can visible your site... Google see no of backlinks to your site and rank a post.

Secondly just submit to directories.. through which you can get backlinks...

Even I had the same problem. In this case you won't get much traffic from Google Search engine.
If you don't like to create backlinks. Then only email marketing will work for you !
But it is recommendable to create backlinks for your blog.

Believe me it totally depends upon your niche, i see many sites with zero or 5 backlinks and getting around 30,000+ views per/day, may be my experience is bit different from others, but thats truth, it totally depends upon niche selection,,, for example if you opt for education blog, just go for it, keep on updating, you don't need any backlink...but definitely Backlinks will make your Blog rank higher and Boost traffic...

What is everyone going on about? Yes you need backlinks, but no one is saying how you SHOULD get them.
The best backlinks are gotten by writing great content and distributing it so people naturally link to it. Period.
In other words "Give the Google monster what it wants to eat" and stop wasting time and money and potentially your rankings by buying manufactured backlinks.

I see only special cases where you can ignore making backlinks and feeling good at the same time in terms of SEO.
For example, when you are able to be one of the first to release news in your niche, then I think you may not bother to build backlinks. Others will do it for you linking to your content.
But when it comes to more traditional methods of online marketing then you have to pay attention to making high quality backlings for site ranking.

If you make quality content, you should get backlinks from your articles and posts that you make on this forum as well. I would also recommend making YouTube videos about them and sharing them with social media every time that you do. You will also get backlinks when other people share your content as well and these can be great for ranking depending on what kind of sites they have. You should never buy backlinks as that will probably do more harm than good but you can get them naturally and this is not as hard as you think. Just remember to keep sharing and it will happen over time

If you have a website, then you have told google or other search engine that you wants ranking of ABC keyword.

Lack of backlinks just means it will take you longer to rank for keywords.
