Can I start with Blog for My new website?

Hi friends,

I am newbie to SEO world somewhere, I am planning to buy 2 to 3 domains for practice for SEO, especially ON PAGE. Can you guide that, Can i run new website on blog like blogger or WordPress. Is it the right place to let practice and learn more and more. My first wish is to just practice, promotion of that website will automatically go on.

Kindly give your valuable ideas, Should i buy domain and let start it with any blog. Which blog is best either blogger or WordPress, I am new to this. Share your ideas please.

      Yes. Agree with you. There is no reason to start a "demo" website and then just to leave it alone (or yes, of course you can do a 301 redirection)... But why?? I would start with a good domain and go on!

    Firstly thanks to you for your interested in blogging. My advice to you for to open a new site on blog is buy one domain. Wordpress is best platform for blogging. Do not use blogger or wordpress as sub domain. Matt Cutt Says Sub domain site will not be more beneficial.

    Firstly you need to choose a good domain name. Domain name has a ranking factor. It will also help you on SERP. Once you buy a domain then take a good user friendly template( i prefer wordpress template). Also choose an speed optimized template. Speed is an vital factor for search engine.

    Once you finalized theme, then make a clear navigation. Now you need to look on keyword. Keyword is most important factor for an blog. Choose keyword with appropriate with your site.

      really , you give somewhere detailed information in respect to my question.

      My next question is i am planning to buy one domain named for example abc.com , now abc. is available , so i buy this domain with .in extension. Does the owner of abc.com may raise any issue or I want to say ,Is it illegal in any manner.

      If somebody is having abc.com and i have abc.in , then doing seo seperately on both sites can affect each other ranking on google.

      I want to add that, i am the owner of abc.in and somebody is owner of abc.com.

    Its good to know more & more people are going towards blogging. As you're new to blogging so remember few things:
    1. Buy a good domain name i.e., related your niche.
    2. Try working on WordPress Platform, as it is easy to learn.
    3. Try making proper categories related to your niche.
    4. Before posting your first post try reading several good articles over the net and understand how they are sharing content.
    5. And lastly also have a brief idea about SEO (it will help you to better optimize your website).

    Never use free services, get a domain on niche keyword and start using Wordpress on it. Also use good hosting so that your site won't be down.

    I wouldn't say never use free platforms like Blogger or WordPress.com. He just wants to start a site for "practicing."

    And it's possible to move from Blogger to your own hosted WordPress site in the future.

    I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here. How would you know that your "practice" is successful or a dud? As a newbie you're better off trying to rank for some super easy keywords rather than starting sites just for the sake of onpage SEO practice.

    That being said Blogger/Wordpress will rank just fine, if not slightly easier than a fresh domain. Facebook pages/Youtube videos would do even better. You will have much more control over your own domain though

    Hey man! Not sure if you already went a head with this project but blogging is just fine! I made my first full time income blogging. 7 years later i still use wordpress.

    Now, I'd suggest only starting with one website, It's easy to get overwhelmed when you're first starting out. If you can write 3 quality blog entries a week in a years time you'll be doing quite good for you're self.

    I don't remember the math now but i think 3 posts a week from now till next year today you'll be getting about 800 organic views a day! 24,000 a month and about 288,000 a year. Now imagine if 1% of those people bought something, That already a full time income right there. That's how i first did it. i started in 2007 and made it by 2008. Good luck man!

    As you are serious about learning SEO and have plans to buy few domains, go ahead and buy domains and don't stick with free sites like wordpress/blogger , If you buy a domain and do the things right, chances of getting success or measuring success would be easy.

    Free sites like weebly/wordpress/blogger etc won't give you the desired results in terms of ranking. If you want to get a feel of how wordpress look like, then yes you can try it out on wordpress.com

    Wordpress is definitely a great way to start your website. You could write good quality content, use interesting graphics and post it on your site. The trick is to make sure that you’re going to post engaging topics so that your readers will like, comment and share your post. That’s the best way to build organic traffic. Oh and be active. If someone comments on your post, make sure to leave a reply. A simple thank you would go a long way to get positive feedback.

    If you just want practice of an SEO then you never need to buy any kind of domain. You need to create accounts in some free sub domain websites. With the help of that sub-domain website. Your practice is going good without any investment.

    It doesn't what kind of software you use to run your site as long as you can get juicy backlinks pointing to it, you will be fine.

    There is obviously the on-page content that you can write plenty on a blog but any kind of CMS will allow you to do the same. So do whatever you like, the important step is off-page seo.

    There nothing to learn in SEO... in wordpress plugins helps you for it and in blogger it doesn't because blogger is not indexed above on google searches. So recommend you to use a domain instead.

    If you want to really learn about SEO, don't open up a blog on a free platform, get your own domain and hosting (you can get them for a cheap price, just look around on this forum and you'll find lots of options) and yes, installing wordpress would be a great start for you!
