Update posts or add new post?

Hey everyone, long time lurker here!

I have an event listing website built on Wordpress. I've been manually adding posts with event information instead of doing some automated submission solution since the volume of events each year is never so large that it becomes unmanageable. The events don't change a whole lot from year to year other than the dates, people or groups showing up, and occasionally hours. So I'm wondering what would be best for SEO: to keep the posts and just update them with new information for that year or to simply delete them each year and add a totally new post.

Thanks!

    I wouldnt delete anything or edit! I would add new posts and keep the old ones. If it is every year just label them in the title 2015, 2016 etc. These old posts have seo juice, dont delete them!

      I like this suggestion better. Labeling it per year is a nice way to keep it organized.

    I would also recommend you continue adding new posts. Try to keep them of a decent length (At least 200 words)..but don't go in and remove things. Updating posts may not get updated in the search engines as much because SE's are usually pinged once a new post has been made. That gets them indexed quicker.

    Don't delete old post.

    First one is;
    Add new posts.

    Second one is;
    Update old post, the world always change.

    Thanks everyone! I was leaning more towards editing rather than deleting originally, but just adding a new post each year does sound like the better solution.

    It's better to add new post rather than update because Google is more into new, unique, interesting, and engaging this is to provide the best and latest information to the users.

    You should add new post every year. So that by the time you have enough post and more number of pages and backlinks on each page. Your website authority will increase by the time.

    I suggest you add new post on your website rather than update the existing ones. Even if they are just basically listing, you should create new entry to add to your website rather than edit or delete existing entry.

    Creating a new entry each time is a much better idea. It also shows your visitors that the website is constantly updated and taken care of.

    As everybody else said: don't edit them or you will lose SEO juice. If a page changes, Google will crawl it and think it's a whole new page, careful with that!
    Your URL structure should add date to the articles, but careful to do it without writing a redirect from old urls to the new ones.

    If the old post get indexed and rank high, it's better you update post, but do not change the existing content, just stroke over any sentences that are no longer relevant.
    Then add your new content down below or in a separate section and marked them as UPDATE

    I've seen a few blogs using this method, a site which talk about Mac stuff if I'm not mistaken.

    Add as much as possible and edit only what's applicable. Like what Chris said, labeling will help.
