I haven't come across this problem before and it's killing my mind. I have a keyword with different variations which cover the same exact topic but they each have their own specific product.

Can an experienced SEO please PM me and help find out if I use them all for article titles; could i get penalized?

I can't seem to find any articles that talk about this specific issue. I found this but it still isn't clear to me.

Yah, there is a possibility to get auto penalty by Panda 4.1

This is very innocent error that anyone can make. Actually Google can penalize you for over optimization of your pages and also will out rank you for your good keywords.
So avoid it kk. Or try using different keywords. This way you'll be able to target more keywords and also their will be no risk of penalizing.

If it is a different product it should not be an issue, although I assume we not talking "different" products such small red acme shorts, medium red acme shorts, large red acme shorts, etc.

To protect yourself you can do a couple things:

    - Vary the title of each page so it does not appear pages are just keyword variants

    Example: Instead of

page 1 title: Small Red Acme Shorts
page 2 title: Medium Red Acme Shorts

    Do something like:

page 1 title: Small Red Acme Shorts
page 2 title: Hot Red Shorts for Acme Lovers

    - Ensure the content on each page is unique and run them through CopyScape

    .
