After recontructed my website, will it punished by search engine due to duplicated content?

I have a new client with website a(xxx.edu.hk) , she want to do seo
i. she also have other two copied website b and c (xxx.com.hk and xxx.jp), with same content and same structured to website a(xxx.edu.hk)
ii. I find part content of website a(xxx.edu.hk) also have been posted in another one website

I try to search the content of these website in google.com.hk, I find the ranking of website a(xxx.edu.hk) is better than website b(xxx.com.hk) and website c(xxx.jp), so I decide to advice my client to choose website a(xxx.edu.hk) for seo

Since the client wants to do seo with 30 keywords, and I find the whole website a(xxx.edu.hk) 's content is arranged in one page(one URL), I plan to split the content into 6 pages(6 individual URL) and rearrange keyword in each page(each URL) , in order to get better ranking per keyword

Question:
I doubt after website a(xxx.edu.hk) 's recontructed, whether this website will be punished by search engine, since search engine may define 6 new pages(6 new URLs)'s content of website a(xxx.edu.hk) is copied from the other two older websites(xxx.com.hk and xxx.jp), because after reconstructed, the URL of website a(xxx.edu.hk) is newer then other two older websites?

You have 2 options here, 1 is to use canonical tag on other 2 websites which makes your targeted domain (xxx.edu.hk) the main source of content. This will end the duplicacy content problem as well.

2nd option you have is to use unique content on new 6 pages.

      Thanks so much!
if I suggest my client to add a different langage version page for (xxx.edu.hk) in order to make it some different to the other two website(xxx.com.hk) and (xxx.jp), does this can help?

The best thing you can do is to host the content on one site only and redirect all the other pages from X,Y sites to Z. This is simple, will not dilute the juice and avoids all possible misunderstandings.

This is a pretty basic SEO issue. You should know the answer to this BEFORE you start taking money from clients.

That being said, and so you hopefully don't screw up this client's business, search engines punish websites for duplicate content that appears on the same site, and generally on a massive scale.

Google may elect to show only one result in the index and to move some duplicate pages to their supplemental index, but that is not a penalty.

The real problem here is you are diluting your efforts. Let's say you are going about this in a total white hat way and are actually doing a good job of attracting links to the pages. Those links are being split up among three different sites instead of coming into one site that would be more powerful.

I have never really played with this. BUT according to Google if you are using separate TLD's and the target and language is clearly defined, the content on both sites would not be considered "Duplicate" - as long as they are written in separate languages.

    Hi,

You might find this post helpful, it features a long list of things you need to check when doing a site redesign in order to avoid potential penalties. I wouldn't say I am an expert on this, but there are some very helpful tips in there you might want to take into consideration.

It talks about URL duplication and how to develop a URL migration plan, too.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks to everyones, i will spend more time to learn

and, i try to compare the ranking of website a(xxx.edu.hk) and website b(xxx.hk) before

when search website's content in google.com.hk, it mainly show the URL of website a(xxx.edu.hk), and havent show website b(xxx.hk)

seems website a's ranking is better than website b , and i check both website's domain history
website a's domain begin in 2012, and website b's domain begin in 2015

but now client seems hope to do seo for website b(the newer one)!

    Question:
if google think website b is just a copy one(not orignal), is it possible to do seo on website b to improve ranking? and ,even replace the ranking of website a(the orignal one)?

If he changes it on 2, there won't be any duplicate content on the 3rd, so why change the 3rd?
