Hi,

I was wondering how to go about this.

If I owned CoffeeMachines.com (which I don't) obviously my keywords would include coffee machines. But how would one go about not over optimizing site when the keywords are EMD? I just made a site monday and indexed it but its not showing up in the Google searches? Its an EMD.

I am afraid I may of over optimized my site with the title pages, content and meta's but there wasn't any other words i could use as keywords.

My page is 100 times better than some of the pages on the first page of the google search for my keywords

If I did over optimize, is this fixable? I thought my EMD was perfect for what im targeting. Am i being to impatient? Is it too early for over optimization penalty?

Thanks so much. I have lots to learn. Yoast SEO is giving me all greeen lights if that matters. But ive read of Google penalizing over optimization.

I come to this forum often and I find a lot of answers helpful

Thanks again

If you made a site on Monday and it's not showing in SERPs and it's an exact match domain and you did everything great, from an optimization point of view, it not showing in the SERP's on Friday is normal.

How competitive is your keyword? For competitive keywords, onpage optimization is not enough to get them to show in the SERPs, unless it's like 347th or lower. And 5 days is not all that long to wait.

If you did, indeed, overdo it, you can remove the keyword from one or 10 places, and wait a bit.

Dude just chill and give Google a second to breathe and process the dataset. Remember your little site is one of billions that will be recrawled today. If you did a solid job and you're not trying to convince yourself that your current output isn't shi# when in fact it is, save yourself the headache and just honestly ask yourself one question.

is this project complete in my mind, or do I have nagging loose ends that need a bit more tweaking and polishing? If the answer is yes, focus and get the task / action list or whatever works for you in place and make it happen.

If the answer is no, than start developing a solid 90 day content strategy with an overlay of basic SEO / SMO. Once you feel like you know what the hell your doing and can understand why Google takes more than a day to review a site about what your topic of the day was then get back to work and create something you actually feel pride in putting out there.

    Best of luck

i don't think it is possible to over optimize the domain name. Keyword stuffing in the body is a redflag though.

I think you are jumping the gun, to make a site on monday for a EMD and expect it to rank immediately
is difficult nowadays with the recent Google Updates. Google is wary of websites with EMD with
the same keyword scattered throughout the website. You need to find some LSI Keywords and
use them on your website. Your Keyword ratio is one of the most important factor in the last Google update.

Just don't keyword stuff and don't spam the keyword all over your page and you shouldn't have to worry about over optimization.

Listing the keyword in your <title> and <h1> should be enough times per page, as long as the rest of the page is on topic.

I want to indicate one thing what all are missing. I agree with all that google will take some time to re-indexed site. But if that site was over optimised we need to fix it as google will penalize the sites which have over optimised keywords. If we doing SEO for home page only and we have few more pages, definitely it will not a good practice. Our competitor may have inner page which is similar to our home page with our targeting keywords. That site's inner page may be in first position if they optimised every page of their site as well.

Not a single mention of backlinks in any of the replies? Yes, it takes time to rank in search results. It also takes backlinks to your site. Work on getting some quality backlinks or your waiting will be in vain.

If I did over optimize, is this fixable?
ANSWER: Yes, just make sure your social media signals are strong (e.g. your FB/Twitter/Google+ page etc) and have more brand name anchor text instead.

I thought my EMD was perfect for what im targeting. Am i being to impatient? Is it too early for over optimization penalty?
ANSWER: Unless you've sent a ton of backlinks with the exact keywords as anchor text, chances are, you're worrying for nothing. Google takes a little time to index sites and all the efforts performed on it.

Initially it is not possible for a site to rank well for the targeted keyword because there are millions of websites there targeting the same keyword.Hence according to me it is not over optimized, try to fix your SEO issues if any left out and make sure you are not using black hat technique to rank well.
