Ranking high on Google requires that you get a natural amount of backlinks from
other websites within the same niche. Here are the most common ways to get backlinks.

1. Directories-Submit your website to directories with the keywords you are doing SEO for.

2. Articles, Social Media, Blogging Sites, Social Bookmarking- Google loves sites like these
because they usually have high Page Rank, meaning that Google deems them important.
Try to get backlinks from websites like these.

3. Press Releases- Google loves fresh content. With press releases, you are telling Google
that since your website is in the news, it must be important.

Don't forget that getting a backlink from a high Page Rank site that is within the same niche of your
website is worth it's weight in gold! In Google's eyes, it is the highest backlink you can get.

I hope you learned a thing or two.

I've been using Free Traffic System for a week and it works well. I just submit my old articles and FTS has a feature to let me spin it easily and post to 30 blogs in their system. For free membership you get 2 links per article so that's 60 one way links per article. Because I spin it as well as place the anchor text myself, all my links look very natural.

To be honest with you, there is actually some really powerful software out there that is able to find content within the same niche you are doing SEO for. Market Samurai has the "Find Content" function that allows you to get some really great pieces of Web 2.0 content that is related to your niche. The best part is, you can leave a backlink on all of the content it finds. Many Web 2.0 sites have high Page Rank. I hope that helped.

You're right - that's exactly why we created the "Promotion" module inside Market Samurai...

...Because we got sick of checking PRs and NoFollow status of link sources. We wanted something that would do the "grunt-work" for us.

I am not really a fan of comment spam as a link building method... and article directories have been superseded by content placement, syndication and blogger outreach programs. A press release is like a news paper. You are telling a story. You are describing an event. Press releases are great for SEO because Google knows that if a press release about a certain subject has a backlink to your website, then your website is important. To get an idea of how press releases are written, pick up a newspaper and start reading articles.

i have experienced this personally, i have been doing all the link building, but was little scared as far as press release & Video submissions were concerned. but somehow i got courage and started doing it, it did wonders for my site overnite. i was in top 20 with in the foirst week itself, that really pushed me to take up affiliate marketing full time, so my advice would be, never ignore press release and videos!

you could open up a ton of free blogger.com sites and put links in them back to your main site. Tons of people do it. However, you would have to do hundreds of these (and keep them going) to get any juice out of them. Better to focus on getting quality links from sites that are already established in your niche.

Be careful if using blogger sites, I think you can edit the code to make at least your comment links DoFollow. Otherwise they will be nofollow and not really help.

I believe the top 3 ways of getting natural backlinks is through social bookmarking, directories and through forums. All this links are hard to get removed especially if you place them relevantly. However if you get links from your niche then they would be relevant links which is good for your site

I would like to add that Google sees the quality
as a more important factor than the quantity of links.

Backlinks from the high PR sites do wonders to the ranking.

The most natural backlinks are the ones that come from other webmasters linking to your high quality content. Write (or outsource to quality writers) great content and you will find yourself with plenty of backlinks without having to worry about building links manually. This is exactly the type of linking that Google wants to reward and as their algorithm improves a site built with this strategy in mind should have no worries about losing SERP ranking.

I heard it isn't a good idea to submit your site to the search engines. It puts your site on a waiting list. It is best to let the search engines crawl your website naturally.
