Why my main index page doesn't show first in Google?

Hey all,

I have a weird question. My site's pages are made in .html (about.html, etc.) and all of them show in Google properly. However, my main page (index.html) shows the last in results, or doesn't show at all (from yesterday on).

I've setup my sitemap the right way, with the highest value for index page, but no luck.
What did I do wrong?

    I'm not doubting what others have said, however I have checked a few sites that have content in tabs or reveal or hover and from what I can see, the initially hidden tab content and the content revealed on mouse over is also indeed despite needing a click/hover to reveal it.

    Check all On page techniques in proper format and go according to web master guide lines.

    Can you share your domain url and also the search term. May be your website is affected by EMD penalty. Unless you share asked details it would be difficult to predict the exact problem.

    Have you done any link building yet? If yes then majority of the link juice is passed to other pages of your website more than it should be on homepage.

    May be the link building for that page might not be enough i think so. If I am right means, then that is the main reason for not showing your index page in the first in google. please check whether your website's index page links are present are not.

    First You need to do on page optimization properly and build some backlinks from authority sites.
