Hello all,

I have a website related to health and fitness.

It's 10 months old and i already published 153 unique articles. All articles range from 200 words up to 1.200.

For SEO I just share my posts in social media and I have done 4-5 blog comments to related blogs. Nothing else important.

Here is the strange part.

My organic search traffic (search engines) is around 200-250 unique/month.
From November until now (Google Analytics).

Already published 150 articles and i have 200-250 unique.

How this sounds to you?

My theme is a premium WordPress theme from Gavick.
I use the All in one SEO plugin and 15 others well-known plugins.

I try to figure why my website receives such a a low traffic compared to my content.

Any suggestions/recommendations/thoughts?

Take some of those published articles and post them on artice directoris (ezinearticles.com), make videos out of them and post them on youtube and such site, share them on doc sharing sites, call website owners in complimentary niches and offer them free content (articles from your site, as long as they link back to you).

Since you're getting 200+ uniques and not more and you've been doing it for a while, I'm going to assume your content is not awesome, people don't jump up with joy reading it, don't think of sharing it on facebook, by email, by tweets.

And content like that has no chance of getting you lots of traffic without you doing off page SEO.

I know you've heard content is king. It is, if it's the kind that gets tweeted, digged, etc. If it's regular content, it ain't.

By the way, nothing wrong with you creating a few other sites and linking back to this site. Especially if you buy aged domains that have some power.

But, it's time you forget about article and focus on offsite SEO.

    Also, how's your onsite SEO?

Sometimes its more the perceived value or usefulness of the articles to the intended audience. Your objective should be to 'add value' if they don't see the value they wont return.

Here is a blog that has helped so many people and I think it will help you too

      Thanks for your feedback.
All my articles are from native speaking English writer and 80% of them are like these: list of 10, Best 12.... etc..

For onsite SEO i use titles, H2, H3 and meta description.
I never target a specific keyword. I just write content that will attract people.

How will your content attract people if they don't see it?

Writing content to attract people and using a well-chosen keyword in the title/url/etc., are not mutually exclusive.

200 words article ain't going do anything magical.

Pick those articles which are receiving less than 10 visitors per month and revert them back to draft.

Combine those articles into one quality article of around 1000 to 1500 words.

Build some more backlinks not from commenting but from social bookmarking.

Use Justretweet.com to get some social shares (social signals) for Google+, Twitter and facebook.

Create 5 to 10 web 2.0 blogs closely related to your niche and get links back to your main site. Post around 10 to 15 articles on them. Don't publish them immediately but schedule them one by one.
    Hope this helps

But, you need to remember that your niche is a highly competitive one. Thus, great content alone will not get you where you would like to get. You have to make sure that you use as many Seo methods as possible.

200 words isn't even an article, it's like a paragraph. You'll never get high rankings for any keyword with that little content. 500 words should be your bare minimum for article length.

That's less than 10 unique visitors a day. In other words, it's almost nothing. You need to publish longer content and choose better keywords.

350 - 500 is standard article length, while anything above is better suited to sales copy

200 words is enough to tell Google what your article is about and, depending on topic, enough to cover it exhaustively.

Since I got to #1 for a keyword with nothing but the title (with keyword in it) and the keyword (3 words) as the only content, I'm going to disagree with you about 500 words.

(Speaking of words, why is it always minimum 500? Why not 488 or 520? Somebody please find me where Google said articles must be at least 500 words.)

He doesn't need more content. He needs better onpage optimization and backlinks. 153 articles is plenty of content!

    1) Your articles is unique? Google now seems, with more words you write, best ranking you can achieve... Yes you can rank with 0 content + quality backlinks... But large unique contents help a lot to rank...

    2) If you don't create backlinks, start create your backlinks to your inner pages and main site.

firstly have you done proper keyword research for your article? All article are unique? i believe 200 words are not enough to make a article attractive. Also you need to do backlink as regular basis.

Sounds like this is a hodgepodge of good information and promotions. Unpublishing any of your content is not a good path to go down.
    - Create good and consistent content with 1000+ words (no fewer than 250)
    - Include relavent images with metadata
    - Title, H1, H2 need to be keyword/phrase relevant
    - Onpage Links and Off-page links - backlinks backlinks backlinks
    - When you share content utilize hashtags/@s/etc to trend your content
    - I've seen good results in social media with being creative with your content or doing Giveaways (just thoughts). It's more important to find out how to BEST share your content. Engage your audience with questions or controversy or a cute cat/dog or something else. Be creative.

It honestly sounds like you're doing well. Keep at it and expand your reach. The backlinking strategies mentioned above (like offering free content to other online articles, making videos, etc) are really good too. Just keep at it. As you get better at what you do now, incorporate more tasks and you'll see those numbers grow.

      Your main problem is: Authority.

Any site with authority can get first page with 200 words easy...

But yes, it is very hard to get some authority on Google, you need start create quality backlinks to your articles.

You seem to concentrate on the technical parameters and number of your articles. Length means very little, and uniqueness means nothing. Well, at least not in the sense that it's used in IM circles... What matters most is that the content (whatever it may be) fits the purpose.

Does your site serve any audience? Would someone read it for the information, or browse it just for fun?

Is there any reason for Google to show your stuff in the search instead of the stuff from a more authoritative site?

Are your "unique" articles so unique that you can find some long tail keywords that very few in the same niche are targeting?

Its good that you post that much content on your website but i think what is missing is quality links to your website in order to boost your raunkings. Posting comments on related blogs is good for SEO but its just not enough. If you got white hat high PR backlinks which are related to your niche you'll be on the right track. The fact that you have so much content on your website increases the number of targeted keywords you will be able to rank for. Good Luck with your project!

    Dear friend,

SEO and traffic is not necessarily related all the time.

If you have good SEO rankings for terms with relatively high searches, then you will definitely get great traffic.

HOWEVER, if you get traffic by simply typing great content, sharing a little and praying magic will happen - that magic won't happen.

'Content is king'. <-- see that? It's B.S. rehashed and repackaged by sleazy IMers sitting in their basement and never had any real world business sense.

Do you think people would link to you simply because you typed a great post? No. Imagine if Steve Jobs made the iPhone but kept it in his house's basement - do you think the world would know about it?

People who preach 'content is king and everything.' are people who 'read SEO information' without any real world business knowledge. Great content is ONLY half the battle won. The second half is when you distribute it by (not only sharing on social media and bookmarking sites), but actually reaching out to people who are considered authoritative in your niche and convince them (use business persuasion skills and not sleazy IM skills only) to link to you.

If nobody links to you, and your site is only shared on 'a few social media channels' and 'blog comments', let's face it, your SEO will be bad. And thus you're only getting traffic from there and not organic search traffic at all.

I'm not sure why you see these as opposites. A blog that solves one problem might become an authority on that one problem. Roughly speaking of course, there's usually enough related topics that may be interesting to the same audience.

Also i forgot to mentioned that i have articles with over 400 repins (Pinterest).

So it's time to stop publishing articles and begin to build backlinks.

The funny things is i have one more blog where i try to solve a specific health problem and with around 60 articles i receive nearly 100 uniques per day.

    Of course with 0 backlinks.

Maybe its better to build a blog that solves only one problem than try to build an authority?

The reason why you have such low traffic is probably the high competition you have to face. Your niche is one of the most popular niches out there, so you need to work harder to promote yourself.

You would need to create backlinks, quality ones if possible, do some article submission, blog commenting, guest posting. It's gonna take time, but if your articles are good and informative, people will notice you!
