Has anyone had good traffic success with putting links into Youtube comments that are relevant? I was wondering if the Youtube comments were actually moderated, because it seems like they are not and you can post your links into the comments.

Haha thanks for the permission! I was mainly wondering if anyone has had any good success with driving traffic to their site from doing this. Have you?

Of course they're moderated, just not moderated before publishing. It seems to me that users are more likely to flag comments with links as spam.

The problem is that YouTube buries comments almost instantly. You know that comment you made that was really funny and insightful and that seems to be the top comment like forever? They're showing that only to you.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

So these comments really won't push any traffic to my site. It will be a totally waste of time in other words?

Are the comments moderated by the user or Youtube?

They're moderated by the user. It's not a waste of time if you use the right techniques. The top commends are the ones that have the most likes. Using BH techniques, you could go to a social network trading site and exchange points or money for likes on youtube comments so it'll be #1.

It doesn't cost money if you do it manually

Why does it matter if the comment is number one?

        Well, you tell us!

I'd guess it's not an effective way to consistently drive traffic to your site. Might work in some cases.

I have not tried this yet that is why I was asking here if it would help traffic or not, just before I start putting a lot of time into it.

Are you talking about comments on your own videos or somebody elses?

If you're talking about going around posting comments on other people's videos, then they automatically get flagged for moderation by the channel owner. Then 1 of 3 things will happen:

1)He approves the comment (unlikely - cos you're trying to drive traffic away from his channel)
    2)He deletes it.
3)He deletes it AND reports you for spam.

If several channels choose option number 3, then your account will be flagged as a spammer and your comments will start getting ghosted (they appear for you but nobody else can see them.) If you carry on spamming, then YouTube will terminate the account.

Is there a way to see if the posts are getting flagged as spam?

I know this is an old thread, but believe it or not people are yet, leaving links under youtube videos in the comment section, even today. This guy "Winning34" nailed this answer. "Great Reply" :-)

You can certainly try it if it's relevant, but trust me, there's a 99% chance the owner of the channel will remove your comment.

As a person who has manages several YouTube channels, it is irritating to me to see people commenting on my videos with links on it.

If you put too many comments with a link in, in a set number of days, you WILL receive an email from Google, informing you that they WILL close your accounts down, you used to be able to comment using Google plus but that hole has been plugged.

OP is asking if he can get away with posting links in other people's videos. And the answer is no.

Posting links in comments is a bad idea. Have you read what people comment over there? Promoting my video course, I posted a couple lectures as YouTube videos and put a link to the course along with a call to action in the description of each video. I know many businesses that do this with their commercials. That is good SEO.

Sure they can. But the channel owner will likely mark them as spam (that's what I do).

Have I read what people comment, where? On youtube? So you think making a youtube video would be a better way to go to drive traffic to a site versus commenting on other people's content?

If the links are to sites with different niche is another reason to be your blocked account. Focus the good build your YT channel.
