I've a good tech blog with about 10k organic searches per month. I write with a guy about articles on tech niche like apple, android etc and games too

I'd ask you if it's good to make a subdomain like this:
games.mydomain.com and have the main website "mydomain.com" as home page/main Brand (blog logo).

I write in this blog about various tech articles and I think subdomains can help the blog to keep the blog posts organized.

Can subdomains be dangerous for SEO of my blog?
If subdomains aren't good, is better then to use a section only for articles?
Example: mydomain.com/games
Thanks guys.

What kind of CMS are you working on?

A subdomain won't hurt the main site's SEO, but the 2 might compete against each other.

Instead, try experimenting with categories, sub categories, and a theme that has a "blog" page template that can be set to show certain categories. That way any SEO optimizing in your "blog" can help your primary domain.

Some cause-oriented hackers recently hacked one of my websites. So I researched what they're about and then donated a large sum of money to the entity they hate the most.

The next time they hack one of my websites I'm going to donate DOUBLE.

Sub-domains may not hurt your SEO but they wont help it either. You can do a bit of a search and find many mainstream big hitters that started with their blogs on Sub-domains and have since gone through the hassle of migrating them back into the main domain.

Those same articles you will find the SEO benefit of doing so as well. If you are wanting to segregate your topics the way to go would be sub-folders yoursite.com/topic-subfolder/post. It ends up being a bit like silo structure and works very nicely. The thing you have to watch is the navigation.

I would say that "Home" gets a bit tricky at times. "Home" is the main page on yoursite.com as well as yoursite.com/topic-subfolder/ So that is an issue you may want to figure out before you take the plunge.

      hope that helps!

Trust your gut, if it works for your site. Look at about.com -- they're huge and use subdomains. Their topics are unrelated to each other, though.

It's not the best route for SEO but it doesn't hurt, and still works well.

Since you're using Wordpress, having a sub-domain or even multiple sub-domain is fine. Look for a "Multi-site" plugin and read more about it or you can ask your web developer on how to make your main site a multi-site.

A sub-domain is essentially a separate, independent domain.

So there are NO real SEO considerations between them and your main domain unless you create them by having dupe content or interlinking or some other no no going on.

No real SEO considerations? You haven't played with subdomains, have you? What's with the dupe content? Interlinking is a no no?

    Makes no sense.

Never bother with subdomains. You would be better off just creating a new site with a new domain and making it its own thing. I had a client who had a website with 3 subdomains, which were basically all in the exact same niche. So imagine "freebie.technologyblog.com" "guides.technologyblog.com". It was a nightmare and required 3 times as much effort.

Just stick with yoursite.com/games to make life simple and more effective.
