I am a bit confused about the importance of sitemap in seo.. If we do not generate sitemap still our site gets crawled by the Spider so what is the importance of sitemap..??

Hi,

Though Google crawls your website even if a sitemap isn't there, having a sitemap has many other benefits. If your site is new or you have created any new content (or updated content) then sitemaps help SEO to crawl them. It is likely that sitemaps would be a standard way of submitting a site to search engines in future. Hope this will help you.

  Google index of your website without Sitemap but when you are adding sitemap than crawling rate of pages at same time is going increase that way overall performance of website is going up.

It's a quicker more efficient way to let the search engines know the structure of your site. You don't have to have one but why wouldn't you want to make it easier to get indexed?

It's just additional help for search engines.

Treat it as this, you could leave your food all over the table at a restaurant and the waiters would still have to clean it up. However, if you ate without being a mess, their jobs would be easier.

Similar case with this.

Sitemap work well for huge websites. If you have only 50 to 100 pages then you not need site map but this pages should be linked through home page or other internal pages, so that Google crawler can reach on these pages.

It actually helps crawler by providing the right direction and is a invitation for Crawler that tells the Crawler which one page is on high priority.

There's one extra point that people tend to forget. Google gives you technical feedback in Webmaster Tools, and sitemap helps to organize that info a bit. If there's a crawling problem the reports you get are probably somewhat more accurate.

I'm sure most people don't know this, Google will/can pull data from an xml sitemap & use that data in the SERP title & description. It doesn't have to be the same data found on the live/ranked webpage.

  Though your site is crawled without sitemap, it is good to have sitemap since it is the table of contents for search engines. It becomes easy for the search engine to identify and index each page. Make sure your webpages should not look odd in Google's eyes.

If you have a big website, with many pages, then a sitemap would probably help you out a lot! But if you have a new website with only a few pages, then it's not necessary to create one if you don't want to. You can get indexed very well without a sitemap.

The benefit of adding sitemap is that while Google crawling your website it will just crawl your sitemap, so its easy. All the pages will be found in the sitemap. In case you did not submit sitemap Google has to go through all the web pages.. Adding sitemap is mandatory process..

Sitemaps are recommended for all sites, but not really necessary. The thing is: An .xml sitemap is only needed for big sites or online shops.

Most local service businesses and brick and mortar stores have small websites with less than 50 webpages. Those will not need an .xml sitemap cause Google will find all of the sites by itself, if you havent completely ****ed up your webdesign
