Hi guys,

I came across a site that sells access to high PR websites, and they have outbound links < 10.

I'm fairly new to all of this and don't know much about SEO. Would it be a good idea to buy them and write up some articles for backlinks?

Thanks.

Just be aware, lots of PR providers are fake and fishy.

But if you can get good and legit PR backlinks (with few inbound links) would improve your SERP rankings.

I hope it's not some Russian SAPE like network, those links only work under certain conditions, eg a well diversified existing link profile.

When relying solely on those links they never work.

There's no high PR websites. There are websites that have a high PR for the home page. There are websites that have high PR for the homepage and one or more other pages. But not all pages.

It doesn't do you much good to buy links from a 'high PR website' unless the link you get is on one of high PR pages. From an SEO point of view.

It does you some good, from an SEO point of view, if you get a link from a low PR page that's got same niche (or at least industry) content as the page on your site the link goes to.

So, yes, it's a good idea. The trick is figuring the dollar value of such links.

(Once upon a time, I read that it take several thousands of PR 0 to match the power of a PR 1; thousands of PR 1 to match the power of a PR2 link.

Never tested it. However, once upon a time, I got to #3 for a medium difficulty keyword with 9 links (6 PR 0, 3 PR 1). At about the same time, for a different keyword of the same difficulty, I barely made it to page 1 with 656 PR0.

However, that was a couple of years ago.

Recently, I made it to #2-5 for similar difficulty keywords with some 200 internal backlinks and 38 backlinks (for all 5 keywords) from PR0 pages. However, 13 of the pages are very closely matching my content. (My pages are about mortgages and mortgage brokers and lenders and banks. The pages linking to me with close content are about FHA mortgages, current mortgage rates and such.)

The quality of all but a half a dozen pages linking to me is great or, at least, average+ (readability, layout, navigation, loading speed).

Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

Not true. A link from a legit site with a homepage that's a Pr 7 even from an inner page is better then a inner page of a site with a Pr 2 Homepage.

Those high pr links your talking about can work. In some cases extremely well, or they can make your site tank. If I was you I would register an account and pick the links myself instead instead of buying from a reseller.

No, the comment was spot on. It all depends on the link structure of the site, and nature of the page that the link happens to be on. In a typical case the link is in a blog post that doesn't get any backlinks on its own, is not linked from the main navi, and is buried instantly. That, or the page is littered with so many links that the link juice is severely limited.

The "blog model" is how most link sellers operate, and for a good reason: the "real estate" for "main level" pages is limited, and obvious random links make the whole site seem fishy. On the other hand, blog posts are easy to generate, and drop from view quite fast.

Of course the value of any "followed" link from such a site is not zero, but it's not that much above zero either.

As others have said there's no such thing as "PR7 home page" any more. You have to evaluate the link profile using 3rd party data.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

I don't disagree. I'm just pointing out that buying a link from a 0 PR page on a PR7 homepage is not the same as buying a link from the PR7 homepage. That would do wonders for you. The other, not so much.

And, depending on the structure of the site, a link from an internal page of a pr7 homepage might be less useful than a link from an inner page of a pr3 homepage or...

Anyway, internal page backlinks, no much good; homepage high PR backlinks, much good.

Very interesting. I would think 200 internal links would over-do it...or not? Just curiosity.

I'm actually going to look into this. Thank you

Overkill has to do with keyword difficulty.

    Some tips from me:
1: When making a link from a site analyze not only IP but that several factors as outgoing links on the page where your link will be and so on ...
2: Analyze inbound links Uppers of which will take the link
3: Bet on the relevance than to the high PR

If they told you they have PR10 links they're lying.

Also, where are they - in articles, on the sidebar, at the footer - plus if they're just putting on link after another up, they're not going to have much value.

Beware that PR isn't the one factor of quality. In fact, PR is very old metric used by Google. You may need to find PR site with high DA, PA as well.
