Yes Keyword planning is important because if you rank your keyword in a search engine if there searches is not happening then ranking of your keyword is not useful for you right so you must plan for your keywords..

Of course it's still important, without proper keyword planning, chances that a website will grow are slim. And yes, keyword density is something you must pay attention to, you can't use your keywords 100 times in a short articles (just an example), you have to naturally introduce them to the readers through your content.

Keyword density is given a much much much lower percentage in helping you to rank your website now. It's more dependent on how many 'quality' (defined as highly relevant and value-added) backlinks you get from related authority sites as well as your social media presence. Of course, your on-site matters as well (e.g. responsive website design and proper descriptions)

Keywords are not going anywhere and their importance has increased from the past. The algorithms changes only tells us how much frequency or density we should use in single keywords and long tail keywords. Using keywords in meta data has been used negatively so search engines degraded this aspect but it doesn't mean keywords are losing value.

Keyword planning is important. Don't worry about keyword density, i.e., write about your subject without once thinking about keyword density. (Have your keywords in title, url, h2, h3, etc. You'll get far that way.

Yes, it is very important for maing your site rank in the Google search, but many individual thinks that keyword planning means stuffing maximum keywords in the field of content but it was not exactly what keyword planning it is the base of improving the Google ranking.

Yes, it's still important. Once you have identified the terms or "keywords" your potential customers are searching in into the search engine, you can now create the content and so on. As for the keyword density, it should be between 2-3% only.
