Can't beat weaker competition

A question to the experienced ones;
A site is ranked well for many keywords, new content aiming low competition keywords usually hits 1st page pretty fast. Suddenly, new posts, still aiming low comp. stuck on page 2, and don't move upwards, even if the competition is really very weak by all standards.
Any ideas what might have happened? Previous rankings weren't harmed but for some reason new KW's are hard to rank.
Appreciate the help.

    actually i do have the same problem. I searched for a low competition keyword with big traffic. The other blogs and websites that are in the first page are not that much strong, but my blog won´t move from the second page of google. to be specific number 11. it balances between 11 and 12. i also dont know how to make it rank on the first page, im stuck too

      Could it be that you guys over-optimized the new posts and stuffed them with too many keywords? That's one reason often overlooked when it comes to not ranking further ahead.

    It could simply be a case where the 'low competition' wasn't as low as you thought.

    A lot of factors go into SEO which you may have missed out for the competitors, e.g. less commonly looked at factors such as social media signals, domain age and relevance e.t.c.

    I'm assuming that you did not perform ANY kind of offpage SEO for the new posts --> with this assumption, it doesn't mean that though you have solid SEO going on for your main URL and root domain, that your new posts will always appear at the top, all of the time.

    Wikipedia has a TON of authority, but you don't see it ranking for every single phrase
