I have heard many SEO experts saying that the best way to get traffic is from social bookmarking sites like reddit, stumbleupon, digg, tumblr etc....How to get more traffic from reddit?? Even I tried to add my website in reddit but I have so many doubts. What is mean by sub reddit and some people says have to choose relevant sub reddit otherwise there is chance of backfiring.

I request you to suggest me some valuable points.. thanks..

I've heard no-one that I consider a "SEO expert" say something like that. Maybe because it's not exactly SEO.

If you post something that the users of a subreddit find really cool or interesting I guess you can get some traffic. Maybe even a lot.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

Follow the rules of subreddit then use it. Reddit is a great source to get traffic to your own website.

Reddit can be an amazing source of traffic. I'm aware of SEO's in a certain niche using reddit as a very powerful parasite page.

Lazy Ass Stoner has good video on using reddit for traffic using different methods

I also doubt SEO experts really say that, there are a ton of ways to get traffic, social bookmarking is simply just one of them.
About reddit, yes, it's a good source. But, your content will have to be appealing to your target public, otherwise you're just wasting your time with reddit (or any other social bookmarking site, for that matter).

First of all i wants to told you that reddit is not a bookmarking site, its a discussion site, you have to share interesting content, pic, ask question and post good links on reddit.

You need to get links karma and comment karma....you will be a trusted member

Do any of you actually follow what is going on in the internet world?

Because reddit is useless for link building. If you don't know why,
      I rest my case.

How do we turn link building into traffic? Reddit parties like it's
2009....I happen to live in 2015, looking at 2016.

But as far as traffic, why not tell your neighbor next door about your site?
Perhaps they will tell their hair dresser, their hairdresser will say something
to the dog catcher, who in turn tells it to his 14 year old daughter, who puts
it on snapchat,....and someone creepy in Russia gives you a visit.

Sure, telling your neighbor is as great for traffic like the average person would
      get from reddit.

But it still aint link building. And it's as much SEO as telling your neighbor.

Post something on someplace worthwhile that actualy helps link building.

Ok, so I'm with you regarding using Reddit for backlinks.

That being said, you know that Reddit can send an OBSCENE amount of traffic to your site, right? Like, crash-your-server amounts of traffic.

Backlinks are good and all, but the point is to deliver traffic. In that regard, Reddit delivers.

All that being said, Reddit traffic is USELESS unless it's very specifically tied to your niche and target market. Getting 50,000 visits in 24 hours checking out a picture of your dog on your site isn't useful if you're trying to sell (let's say) B2B services.

This is a good point. I'm not sure where people got the idea that Reddit is a "social bookmarking" site. If you've ever been to the site you know that it's not.

      Very much true.

It's not only a discussion site, but a discussion site for obsessive geeks. And I use that expression with love and respect.

It's a very tough audience to please, and even if you "score" the traffic may be completely pointless to you. Well, unless you're selling cool but useless technical gizmos, or your product has something to do with talking kittens or boobs.

Reddit might not give you any advantages in the search engine but like many other people have written, it can drive a huge amount of traffic to your site. I managed to get around 300k unique sessions to my site by getting to the front page of reddit, I think I posted 3 or 4 articles.

This resulted in 300 dollar sales from Amazon and 150 dollar sales from AdSense. While the people of Reddit aren't that into impulse buying things over the internet, they are very much into sharing things they find on their social media accounts.

I think most of my sales came from getting shares on Facebook actually, people who weren't interested in my niche still clicked on my affiliate links, which of course led to sales.

There are certain undercover upvotes group you could join, if you want to kep reacing the front page, this is the way to go.

TL;DR: For SEO, no. For sales, yeah.

If any of you guys have any more questions about Reddit and how to use it properly, just shoot me a PM.

Reddit is a great social bookmarking website that helps to drive traffic for your website. The subreddit means the category of the post that you are posting on reddit i.e. it is related to which niche. Moreover, try to post comments on another post related to your niche for increasing engagement. And, if your post is attractive, then people will also like and comment on it. Try to post something interesting with an eye catching title.

Reddit. I still can't even say that with a straight face.

You people are partying like it's 2010.

Wake up and smell the 2015.

There is no SEO or backlinking strategy even remotely
      associated with reddit.

And traffic? Yeah sure. You'll get more traffic from a sig link
here...and that's not SEO or backlinking either.

Party on Garth! Party on Wayne!

I'll bet you people are using myspace as well for all that, "traffic."

        Hey Paulgl,

I know you're older than most of the pups visiting the WF, but you haven't yet gone senile, have you? :-)

Maybe you're mistaking Reddit for Digg or something?

Head on over to SEMRush, Compete, or whatever tool you'd prefer. Reddit didn't start getting much traction until January 2014 and it really came into its own Q4 2014, Q1 2015. It's one of the Top 30 websites on the internet.

Warrior Forum? It's at #881 and dropping on Alexa.

You tell me who's living in the past?

You had such a good comment going on.

Alexa is useless. Comparing two very different sites is completely pointless.

Or do you think that the guy who you replied to is advocating link building on WF instead of Reddit?

Backlinks on either site are low quality, but Reddit has different audiences and niches. It's got at least potential as a outreach and traffic tool.

I know, I know...it's "cool" to say Alexa is pointless, but I think it's accurate enough to compare them to make my point here.

Don't agree? Compare on any other tool you think's appropriate and you'll find an equally undeniable difference.

I don't think PaulGL was advocating using your sig links for the backlink/SEO benefits, but he DID say:

"And traffic? Yeah sure. You'll get more traffic from a sig link here..."

Which is a ridiculously (and demonstrably untrue) statement when it comes to the traffic Reddit can bring.

Why on earth would I do that? The comparison is pointless to begin with, and it doesn't help that it's done on data that's completely unreliable.

Apples to oranges has got no explanatory power on anything.

Paul might be wrong on that. I'm not quite sure what he's trying to say about one third of the time. I don't want to try to decipher other users comments for them.

However, most of these average WF one-line wonders have snowball's change in hell to make it big on Reddit. It takes marketer's mindset and tenacity. Or blind luck.

I found it more effective when I post a youtube video rather than my direct website link. Because during promoting your site if anybody understand you are just doing SEO for your site they will not upvote.

Mind it one upvote is more effective than 10 visits. Try to help them more.

The best way to get traffic is not just through bookmarking. I believe that today's SEO, the most effective strategy is through Social Engagement. But of course, bookmarking is still one of those. As per you question, Reddit is still a great medium of getting backlink, just make sure that you are pointing on the right niche and make the people get interested with what you are posting and get them involve.

Reddit doesn't have high page rank, the front page and most popular subreddits do. You're not getting a permanent link to the front page, nor on a popular subreddit's front page. The link will eventually drop from sight. Not only that, but there's dozens or even hundreds of links on the same page, all diluting your nofollow that doesn't pass any juice to begin with.

Why is this logic so hard for you to follow?

Reddit should not be only considered for increasing backlinks. You can do a lot with it. It is having different audience and very skilled people who are sharing their knowledgeable views there. If users like your comment , it increases your profile authority. In that case, it will help slowly help you increasing your website traffic.
