My website revolves around knives. I made a couple "music" Lyric videos and at the very end of the descriptions i added a link to my website even though the songs have nothing to do with knives. If you make a good video, people tend to share the shit out of it. This is probably a dumb question but would that work as a back link?

    Annotations and links in description are backlinks, but they're no-follow. Not exatcly helping your rankings.

    I'm fairly skeptical that such links drive that much draffic, or that it's the kind of traffic that converts.

      I think if i add my link to the top of the description instead of at the bottom, it will work better as far as driving any traffic and i doubt it will convert to anything....... Thanks

    Instead of promoting offers which are not relevant to the videos you can find offers which are more relevant such as radio related apps, song downloading apps & so on..

    This will make sure you get to better conversion of your traffic.

    And as a lot of them have already answered.. Links from YouTube are no-follow..

      What do you mean promoting offers? are you talking about placing adds on the video or in the description?

        Find some offers relevant to your niche. If you are not already an affiliate of the company which is providing the offer then apply for affiliate account & promote the offer along with your videos.

        Talking about how to promote the offer.. Make sure you include a link to the offer in description & at the end of the video you ask the viewers to check description or include something about the offer in the end of the video..

    If your videos have nothing to do with knives, chances are the traffic you get this way will not convert. Sure, what you're doing counts as a backlink, but a no-follow one, which won't help much..
