Hi,

I work as an SEO for a large business directory. Each company listing belongs to a multiple category pages. For example a local London restaurant is listed under:

Home > London > Food & Drink in London > Restaurants in London > Intalian Restaurants in London

and:

Home > London > Acton (london area) > Food & Drink in Acton > Restaurants in Acton > Intalian Restaurants in Acton

The current breadcrumb of that local restaurant is:

Home > London > Acton (london area) > Food & Drink in Acton > Restaurants in Acton > Intalian Restaurants in Acton

My question is:

1. What is the best practice for that breadcrumb? I'm planning to remove the unimportant pages from listings breadcrumb and to include only important ones, so the breadcrumb will look like:

Home > London > Intalian Restaurants in London > Intalian Restaurants in Acton

The main reason i want to do that is because currently the link juice flows through many unimportant pages such as: "Food & Drink in Acton".

Please share your opinion.

Thanks in advace for your help.

I think your revised strategy is a good one. I'm not sure what Google thinks of multiple breadcrumbs, but if they display a long string of keywords, Google might interpret them as spam. Besides, Google prefers the shortest distance to any piece of content.
