Google Algorythm This Month

Was there a Panda, Penguin etc. or major new thing
this month with Google?

I know Google has so many aspects going in it's
algorythm, that it would be hard to say but can
anyone shine some light on this? I am having
problems, but do not know what to work on.

Starting the 7th and 8th of April, I started having
problems for some of my affiliate sites.

Some of the first page keywords are no longer on
first page. And so I have have gone down in the
number of visitors, as well.

I do have a plugin so these are mobile accessible, so
that is not a problem.

I do know the negative seo has picked up a little, so
that could also be part of the problem as well.

Thanks.

The mobile thing isn't out yet. That should not be your problem. However, you should make sure that your "mobile accessible" is also something that Google accepts as mobile.

There's changes all the time so it's really hard to say if algorithm changes are the thing that hit you. I'd go through your website stats, SERP tracker records, competition, and other such data to see if there's changes or patterns.

My blogger blogs with no content or little content and blogs with affiliate links and duplicate contents are removed this month .
More than 5+ blogs on blogger.

It seem googles approaching strict policies regarding maintaining a blog on blogger.com

And the same for other websites, flushing spam and low quality from the base

Your problem could be Google Dance.. I don't think the Mobile update would harm your website with such a big effect (to be out of even 1st page when you were #1)...

The mobile thing is out , I received this in WBT :
"Google systems have tested 1,750 pages from your site and found that 100% of them have critical mobile usability errors. The errors on these 1,750 pages severely affect how mobile users are able to experience your website. These pages will not be seen as mobile-friendly by Google Search, and will therefore be displayed and ranked appropriately for smartphone users."

Yes, they've been sending notices recently. It's a polite way to inform users about the upcoming change.

Yes, they've been pushing mobile search for couple of years at least. But the "big change" in SERPs isn't supposed to happen for another week. I've not seen any indication that this part - the ranking index and algorithm change - is already in place.

Google has been rolling this thing out for some time already. But everyone knew or should've known that something like this was going to happen. First because it's fairly obvious, and second because Google has been posting about it, and adding mobile to their webmaster-related tools.

At this point there's no need to speculate on this particular change, because they've got blog posts and guides.

And soon we'll have some sort of data.

You can bet the mobile thing was up & running before the public knew it even existed.

Yes, I got that message months ago. But it hasn't effected my website rankings just yet.

        ...and might never.

Google isn't going to unleash some HUGE destructive thing on the SERPs without running the algo. before telling the public.

I have no doubts the mobile algo. being talked about in this thread is running right now.

Sure there will be panic in the streets come April 21st, but that's public forum drama threads as usual (Oooo... my page dropped in the SERPs, why does Google hate me?).

To be honest most folks probably don't even care about mobile traffic until Google mentions mobile algo changes.

I was one of those people you mentioned who didn't care about mobile traffic until Google mentioned it

I don't actually know how many of my customers use a cell phone versus a computer when they find me on Google. It could be a lot or a little. But I am looking to get more customers so I figure any loss of rankings is bad.

I too believe that the changes are already happening, they might have announced an official date but they always do what they want anyway. But to be fair they did announce there will be some major changes that WILL take effect, so even if they have begun testing things out, it shouldn't be a shock because we were given quite enough time to 'prepare'.
