Hi,

So I have a domain name that isn't very seo-friendly, for example vroomvroomcars.com.au

Will it help increase search traffic if I buy the more keyword friendly domain buycarsonline.com.au and re-direct it to vroomvroomcars.com.au & will that negatively impact the rankings for my main site in anyway?

Regards

Redirecting a popular website towards a newly brought domain will definitely effect your rankings. In-fact google guide developers not to use too much redirect links.

Is your domain name old? If it is, think twice before you start using new domain name.

To be more clear, the new domain i.e. buycarsonline.com.au will only be a landing page that will redirect to my main site i.e. vroomvroom.com.au.

I assume buycarsonline.com.au will rank better simply because of the keywords so I don't plan on changing my url on my main site. So because it ranks better(Hence trying to take advantage of it), could the re-direct I use to my main site cause seo problems?

I hope that is more clear.
