Do pictures posted in a blog post help to gain attention from search engines? I have been putting pictures into my blog posts and think some of them may be helping. Is a picture worth 1000 words?

    Yes, it may help in google image search but not in google search.
    Add some content in each image post for better rankings.

    As Blogdum said, they work great in an image search engine. However, if you add your pics to Pinterest, you'll see some nice SERPs from that as well.

      Are you using keywords to name the pictures?
      Are you using ALT text that contains keywords?

      If yes, it helps. If no, not much.

    Images help your search engine rankings if you are using keyword rich alt tags.

    More importantly though, a post with relevant and useful images is a lot more engaging and easy to read for people than a post with nothing but text.

    Yes of course they help - but only if SEO for images is taken into consideration

    The pictures I am using in the blog are not pictures I have taken, but pictures from other sites. As long as I source the picture I can still use it with a link to my site correct?

    Hi Riccur,

    Any blog post image main point after content to gain attention from search engines but I am also dont using Google,Bing or Yahoo image,therefore don't effect in the post and again attention.I hope you understand.

      Definately name your pictures with keywords and alt text. It's best for SEO if they are filed on your own site.I use a wp blog platform with a good SEO theme. Also use wp plugins EWWW Image Optimizer, Google XML Sitemaps and W3 Total Cache. Try adding your site to google page insights to see how much google likes it.

      In some search results google will show a selection of images for that search term. Theres a few of mine for one of my search terms.

        You really should. I tested Pinterest traffic, and it was incredible for DIY/craft stuff. We run a retail store on eBay in this niche, and using various angles, I was able to increase our revenue dramatically on certain products.

        Pinterest is a conversation between people in a community. If you come across as a marketer, then you're shot. If you, however, give them food for thought, then you will certainly reap dividends. Infographics, as a side note, are very popular on there. Some of the best advice I was given was:

        Create an infographic about the niche you are marketing. Example: garden furniture. Make it appealing to the female audience on Pinterest (as this is the predominant demographic). Do not link to your website. Gather traffic from this infographic. Release ANOTHER infographic. Finally, put some pins up of your products, and on these pins, do some linking.
